I saw another poll or stats I think it was on GB News which suggested immigration was up there if not the main issue.
Depends what source you source perhaps.
October 6, 2022 at 08:36 #1617505GB News, quelle surprise. They probably set up a ‘poll’ on Twitter.
October 6, 2022 at 08:39 #1617506Not sure what you’re on about, Richard.
GB News is a highly respected, objective and intellectually robust source of informa…
Nah; I couldn’t finish typing the sentence without laughing.
October 6, 2022 at 08:40 #1617507GB news. The channel favoured by Nigel Farage supporters.
October 6, 2022 at 08:42 #1617508GB News is obviously too centre ground for you, or you just don’t watch it as you have been told by the left it’s far right propaganda.
Seems you much prefer the far left BBC or Guardian as your main sources, and you need to bring other sources into your life to provide some sort of view from the other side.
October 6, 2022 at 08:54 #1617511Here’s YouGov, similar figures for economy and immigration.

That’s two sources, neither of which have anything to do with the BBC or Guardian. Neither of those is ‘far left’ by the way, especially not the BBC. Have a look at them, it might provide some sort of balance
October 6, 2022 at 10:27 #1617518NatCen’s (National Centre Social Research) latest “British Social Attitudes” survey (link below) deals with issues discussed here.
You may consider having a glance to get an alternative perspective to what’s covered by mainstream media..
“Each year NatCen’s British Social Attitudes survey asks over 3,000 people what it’s like to live in Britain and what they think about how Britain is run.
Since 1983 we’ve been measuring and tracking changes in people’s social, political and moral attitudes.
The survey is a critical gauge of public opinion, and is used by the Government, journalists, opinion formers and academics.”

October 6, 2022 at 11:56 #1617527Control and Tory government don’t belong in the same sentence ….
October 6, 2022 at 14:52 #1617541I keep reading on Twitter that the BBC is far left and Sky’s Beth Rigby is a “Labour activist.”
But the same channels and people slaughtered Corbyn for being unelectably right wing.
I think they’re now slaughtering Truss for being unsustainably right wing.
They attack the extremes of politics because the majority of viewers are in the centre.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 6, 2022 at 16:10 #1617550I’m pretty pi**ed off that the Independant sold off the I to the Daily Mail.
I like to think the Independant hits the middle ground, so why sell off the I
to the DMGT who are ever so slightly right of Genghis Khan ??October 6, 2022 at 16:23 #1617554I do wonder how far to the right of the BBC you have to be to consider it ‘far left’. The idea is simply complete rubbish. You may or may not consider it biased but if there is any, it isn’t a huge amount one way or the other.
October 6, 2022 at 16:53 #1617556“They attack the extremes of politics because the majority of viewers are in the centre.”
The BBC did not like Corbyn because they knew he was the main thing preventing a Labour government.
October 6, 2022 at 18:02 #1617563Agree with Jenkins that if the Conservatives are going to get rid of Truss they need to do it quickly – but the idea Michael Gove would unite the party or appeal to the public is absolutely batsh*t crazy.

That’s an interesting theory which I can’t disprove.
All I would say is I think the BBC has no overall policy and if it favours one Party it’s staff don’t all sing from the same hymn sheet.
The channel has employed Jeremy Paxman and Andrew Neil whose politics are I suspect different from those of former employees Andrew Marr and Lewis Goodall.
Laura K was never hard on Boris Johnson.
At a lower level my local radio breakfast show anchor is clearly Conservative.
I think the BBC employs all sorts tbh.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 6, 2022 at 19:30 #1617577Interesting opinion item by Simon Jenkins but Michael Gove is possibly the most shameless backstabber in British political history – his own left hand cannot trust what his own right hand is doing.

It’s a line from Blackadder, but it always makes me think of Gove.
