Braverman bemoaned how much it was costing to house migrants in hotels but is happy to send them to Rwanda for ‘processing’ ( I hate that word) which costs an absolute fortune. Apart from being totally immoral.
October 5, 2022 at 14:34 #1617453One day a Tory leader or wannabe leader will choose stage intro music composed by someone who actually supports their policies – mind you, that kinda shortens the playlist options.
M People livid apparently.

In truth, there’s been little change, but what change there is is in Labour’s favour and to the detriment of the Party which just had its big event.
I’d say the summary of market sentiment is: “You looked likely to lose power before and if anything you look even more likely to lose power now.”

October 5, 2022 at 18:22 #1617463Even allowing for the fact it is in the obviously hostile Guardian, Mr Crace speaks for many.
Once a Prime Minister becomes a figure of mockery or pity, they are finished.

October 5, 2022 at 19:24 #1617468Crace is obviously biased, but it doesn’t alter the fact he can be very cuttingly witty.
I’m sure he will take the mick out of Starmer PM plenty given the chance too – it’s what sketch writers do.

October 5, 2022 at 20:06 #1617475October 5, 2022 at 20:12 #1617477Liz Truss is an even worse PM than Boris Johnson, Suella Braverman is an even more horrible Home Secretary than Priti Patel – who had THAT win double?

October 5, 2022 at 22:02 #1617486I get the feeling the tory’s fortunes turned today.
Interviews with the public also suggested they are almost bought in to the new way of thinking to grow the economy, now with ‘tweaks’ and being able to digest it all.
They at least want to give it a go.Just as important, if Braverman can also sort out illegal immigration then the next election will be the conservatives.
October 5, 2022 at 22:47 #1617488I suspect much of the ‘illegal’ immigration you refer to is anything but, however the economy is where they live or die. This trickle down rubbish and vague promises about ‘growth’ will not cut it. All people are going to see is vastly less money in their pocket becuase their mortgage or rent has shot up and things costing ever more due to inflation (which has many more causes than just the war in Ukraine).
They can’t pin that on a party who was last in power 12 years ago. They’ll find someone to blame other than themselves becuase they always do but it’s not going to wash any more.
October 6, 2022 at 01:55 #1617492Braverman is trying to stop people coming to this country. But Truss realises that, to tun his country into the small state utopia that she’s always dreamed of she needs immigrants.

Won’t stop them from trying.
October 6, 2022 at 07:10 #1617500Truss needs immigrants but if she brings them in then Brexit is toast ….she’s in no mans land
October 6, 2022 at 07:50 #1617502The intentions were for controlled immigration HDLG, so yes still accepting people in for certain roles.
The main problem which still hasn’t been dealt with is illegal immigrants. This is just as bigger issue as the economy.
If Braverman manages to achieve her goals then I would say that makes the next election much closer.
On the economy, as well as Truss’s own vision’s, outside world factors will probably still have more of a say in this.October 6, 2022 at 08:15 #1617503https://www.statista.com/statistics/886366/issues-facing-britain/
Economy a country mile in front of everything else on a list of voters’ concerns, immigration fourth.
Braverman’s comments are pure dog whistling. Clearly a few obedient doggies are listening but most of us aren’t.
