I remember a horse called victory gunner who last ran in spring 2015 at lingfield at the age of 17 …. and only for having some terrible luck in his previous race in Ffos Las in January 2015, he could well have won at the age of 17. Anyone know who the oldest horse currently in training is?
May 3, 2016 at 06:43 #1244416Are they allowed to race, when they’re older than 15?
May 3, 2016 at 07:12 #1244418Not sure if the horse is still in training but Fit The Cove from Ireland ran last season as a 15 year old. He may now have been retired after coming last in his two previous starts though

The 16-y-o Metal Detector was entered in the 2013 Cheltenham Foxhunter chase. He didn’t run, but presumably that wasn’t due to age restriction.
As an aside, the oldest horse ever to run in GB was the 22-y-o Creggmore Boy, who finished 4th in a Cartmel selling chase in 1962.

Would have made a good sire for The Tin Man
