If Mike was actually getting the prices he is claiming from the same bookie he’d be restricted within 5 bets unless he’s losing a fortune on virtual speedway
365 closed my account after a string of antepost shorteners (that didn’t even win)
Hills did the same after allaho, minella indo and monkfish all won for me at Cheltenham

Charles Darwin to conquer the World
October 3, 2023 at 22:17 #1665512888, the firm which “showed” 16/1 Opera Singer on Oddschecker, is now 7/1. Mike’s bet clearly has them running scared.

8/1 is still available with Betfred, Sky Bet and Paddy Power/Betfair.
Ladbrokes is now 7/1.
I remember one occasion when Oddschecker showed Betfred as being massively out of line on a particular horse that had just won some sort of trial. I logged into my Betfred account straightaway but was not particularly surprised to discover the price was not there and was in fact broadly in line with the other firms. It was clearly a glitch in getting Oddschecker updated.
I am certain it was the same situation after the Boussac. I don’t have an account with 888 but I am certain if anyone logged on trying to get 16/1, they would have been greeted by the sight of 8/1 at the most.
October 3, 2023 at 22:19 #1665513I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…
There is nothing wrong with being a “mug” Green’, not even a bookies favourite mug.Do the people down the pub regard themselves as mugs when they don’t make a profit from their pints?
Value Is EverythingOctober 3, 2023 at 22:22 #1665514“From that I take that Mike is not after the new odds after the race, Nathan.
He’s looking to back the odds that were available before the race after he knows what the horse has achieved in the race – before the new market has formed.”I took the available 16s post race for the Oaks.
I took the available 7s post race for the Guineas.October 3, 2023 at 22:29 #1665517No one is querying the Guineas price, Mike.

More REAL (as opposed to fantasy) world input, this time from FF91.
The words of CAS, Oscar, Silent Assassin, GT, and now FF91 are the reality here.
Bookmakers won’t honour palpable errors and a price that hasn’t been updated after a trial is a palpable error.
The ONLY exception might be if the punter was a significant long-term LOSER.
In short: Coming on here just after Opera Singer bolted up in the Boussac by five and saying you’ve just taken 16/1 is like saying: “I’m so rubbish at betting I’ve just got a palpable error and they’ll honour it because I’m that bad at betting they know even if she wins they’ll win it back off me in next to no time.”
Anyone who actually comprehends on an intelligent adult level how the betting industry works knows this as countless posters have demonstrated on this thread.

Quite right, and I really enjoy the whole shebang and consider the money I lose money well spent on my hobby. I sometimes even get a little bit of smug (Classic Getaway when he won his beginners) before the mug (Classic Getaway when he failed to get entered in the big novice chases thereafter and, yup, turned out to be on a sick note, again).

October 3, 2023 at 22:44 #1665522My late father (an economics lecturer) would have said you are a winner, not a loser, greenasgrass, because it is all about comparative cost.
Any money you say you “lose” (he would say “spend”) on betting gives you literally hundreds (maybe even thousands) of hours of pleasure every year.
What other hobby or pastime could do that at so low a cost?

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 4, 2023 at 07:19 #1665534I hope Opera Singer wins The Oaks. Then we can look forward to seeing a “Get In” from Mike posted two seconds after the race is over, celebrating his “16/1” with a bookmaker he cannot even name.
October 4, 2023 at 07:43 #1665535Reasons why I hope Opera Singer wins the Oaks –
1 I’ve got 28s (it was almost an hour after she had bolted in at the Curragh too, it was Ebor day at York and most eyes may have been on the Knavesmire).
2 CAS has got 17/2 which is arguably even better value seeing as he’d just seen her storm home in a Group 1 whereas I was having a bit of a guess as to her potential.
3 I will never ever tire of reading a “get in!” time stamped about two seconds after the race, reassuring me there is at least one person on the planet who always is at home with simultaneous TV and internet access.
4 You can’t actually spend money you never actually won because the price you pretended to obtain never actually existed – it’ll be a sad day for someone if both Oddschecker and their more Mickey Mouse bookie participants ever clean up their Poundland software and feeds so you only see the reality (“market suspended”) during key trials.

She might not win. Hope so. But she might not.

Updated for you.

Hopefully CAS got the 17/2 like he said and you placed the bet you said, the rest looks alright. :o)
October 4, 2023 at 08:33 #1665541I have never for one second doubted anything CAS has ever said on this forum.
If only I could say the same of everyone else.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 4, 2023 at 08:41 #1665542Mike, 8/1 was available with several bookmakers after the race and was still available with one or two firms when I looked on Oddschecker last night.
There is no doubt about the credibility of the price I took with Ladbrokes, which I explained was boosted to the next price up, i.e. 17/2.
Unlike you, I am prepared to name the bookmaker I placed the bet with. It was at 2.17pm on Sunday 1st October. I posted on this forum 2 minutes later. I am even prepared to post a screenshot if someone explains to me how it is done.
Forum users are entitled to reach their own conclusion by your refusal to even name the bookmaker who allegedly laid you 16/1.
