Now that Domino Darling has gone missing again I took the 8s from PP cash out option for the Oaks for Frankly Darling in case she bolts up this week and ends up being the only creditable opposition to the favourite who I have already backed.
June 30, 2020 at 00:39 #1492191What a shame this highly interesting race is so neglected here
so I ‘d like to bring it up again with a little song by Fat Joe (my preferred version):
“What’s Love got to do, got to do with it”
June 30, 2020 at 00:58 #1492194Wonderful race in prospect Hein,
I’m delighted Born with Pride isn’t running as she has embarrassed me enough for one year.
I managed to pinch a couple of quid out of the swear jar and put it on Frankly Darling at 20’s after her victory at Newcastle.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
June 30, 2020 at 01:18 #1492198I admire you for these odds on a serious contender Nathan and hope she wins it for you
By the way it’s odd how (Irish?) people are so obsessed about O’Brien, as somebody wrote correctly in another thread (can’t remember where): It’s not mutual at all, as it’s quite well known he doesn’t give a damn to punters
Must be a kind of masochistic relationship
June 30, 2020 at 07:36 #1492211Team tactics form no part of pre-race preparations at Ballydoyle, Aidan O’Brien insisted on Monday. “I promise you, never ever,” the trainer said
Mandy Rice-Davies said it best.
I admire his training brilliance and his sympathy with horses but this is a bit annoying. He may be a god fearing, non swearing, clean living Pioneer but he lies (and sometimes basically cheats) for money. A lot of money. Every horse trying its best to win…give me strength. The Anvil would’ve needed forty cans of Red Bull, a line of coke and turbo boosters attached to its backside 4f out to win the Leger the way it was ridden for example.
Of course if your horse manners you can ignore pace setters and even pace wreckers- and everyone is prepared for it- but as Nielsen said, a peloton is another thing.
June 30, 2020 at 11:38 #1492222Got a nice treble rolling on to frankly darling and had her in several free bet doubles with siskin for the sussex stakes
She looked potentially top class at royal ascot to me
I’m looking forward to this race more than the derby
June 30, 2020 at 15:52 #1492249Peaceful heading elsewhere says AOB…
“It’s pointless Peaceful going to Epsom along with Love when the prize-money is so much better in France. The race in France [Prix de Diane] is worth well over double what’s on offer for the Oaks so Peaceful will head there on Sunday rather than running in the Oaks.”
June 30, 2020 at 16:20 #1492252They paid 10K to enter her yesterday.
June 30, 2020 at 16:59 #1492257Pants. Bang goes my antepost. Selfishly, I hope it lashes down and turns into a bog in France or something and changes their minds. Can’t wish any ill on the fab Love and all who backed her (and also I want to see which is the best! I think Peaceful is better
)July 1, 2020 at 09:01 #1492299Mine as well green
and on the day that Paddy Power shortened her odds to 9/2 really disappointed but should have known they wouldn’t pitch both top fillies in same race.
I will back Peaceful to win in France having paid so much to supplement her doubt things will change now,So Wonderful gets her chance without the Fab 2 at Leopardstown 4.45 today bit too short for me considering she is still a maiden. I prefer couple of EW bets on Celestial Object and Ridenza.
Looking forward to seeing Peaceful run again wherever she turns out.
But it has to be Love now.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 1, 2020 at 11:35 #1492314Frankly Darling is a certainty will outstay love and cruise home
July 1, 2020 at 12:00 #1492318Probably explains why the 2 French horses never came over and everyone is heading over the Channel Coops. I knew there was something they must of been scared of.
July 1, 2020 at 12:13 #1492322Certainly hope so coops
July 1, 2020 at 12:21 #1492324I know its asking a lot to get the same race twice, but this could turn out to be a duel similar to the Enable v Rhododendron one. Do people remember that? It was run in monsoon conditions where Enable came out on top. That was sweet for me, as I backed Enable antepost. I can’t predict what will happen this time.
Link to that duel is below if you fancy seeing it again.
July 1, 2020 at 12:39 #1492327Only doubt about Frankly Darling is her pulling her chance away. If she settles ok, she wins.
July 1, 2020 at 12:50 #1492330That was what made her ascot performance so striking
Pulled hard early due to no strong pace and still won very easily
I’d back her for the arc if she wasnt trained by gosden
I’d imagine she will end up at ascot on champions day
July 1, 2020 at 13:04 #1492332This looks a cracker on paper and the comparisons with Enable and Rhododendron are justified with Love having to step up in trip whereas we know Frankly Darling stays the trip already, for the same trainers and the same top jockeys, its just what the sport needs. I think Love will get the trip just fine she’s similarly bred to Magical and Hydrangea (and obviously Rhododendron) who if it weren’t for Enable in the latter case would all be Group 1 winners over 12F and to be honest I think they are both about the right prices so there’s no real value in it unless you have a strong opinion either way. Enable was a much bigger price against Rhododendron for what its worth and Rhododendron was beaten in her Guineas albeit by a very good filly in Winter. Of the others I do like Gold Wand for Roger Varian and if I felt strongly Love wouldn’t stay I’d be taking Frankly Darling on with her as you’d only have the one filly to get beat but I think at the moment its a race to savour. Good luck to anyone who is on at nice prices on either of them.
