8 meetings on Saturday but only 2 on Sunday. Barmy.

Hundreds of non runners every week, just how badly is the sport being run?

I’m frankly astonished how many non runners there are now every day yet no-one in the industry seems to care. As for 6 afternoon race meetings crazy. I’ve been told my argument is flawed but say Doncaster & Chester didn’t race today, they could save on prize money, add it to subsequent fixtures and have more valuable races

Absolutely shocking all the non runners are Phil but maybe we’re imagining it or it doesn’t really matter.

What concern have the BHA ever shown over the issue?
Even all presenters and pundits on the racing channels show absolutely no interest in the subject.
Have they ever questioned Bittar over the issue in one of their lovey dovey interviews with him?
They tell us what a good job he’s done, has he ****.

Maybe all these people are just happy to trundle along as long as they can keep their snouts in the trough.

But on other hand Phil, maybe it’s just us, even on this forum there is very little interest with regards all the non runners.

    Your argument is very flawed.

Did any catch the reception the winner of the big race, the hungerford stakes got at newbury?…goodness me I’ve heard the winner of a seller at Taunton get a better reception then that!

I was there and it is the same all the time.

I love The Racecourse, Newbury – fab venue and run by very friendly people.

BUT – I wish they would give it up with all this ”congratulate with your applause” (as opposed to with what exactly?) stuff because no one is interested – especially on days when they put an act on after racing and 98% of racegoers are drunken Welsh on a day out up the M4.

Makes a change from ‘please put your hands together for’ – bit of a cliche, that :)

Was a bit busy when I posted this so I will explain a bit more.

Prize money is made up of several things. Levy, racecourse contribution, sponsors and owners. The levy contributes approximately 1/3rd of prize money. Therefore if those courses didn’t race that day not all the prize money would be able to be transferred. There would be no owners, race course or sponsor contribution. This means that the only money able to be transferred would be the levy. However, things are not as simple as that. As the courses would not be racing there would be less levy being raised. So, there would be approximately nothing to be transferred to another meeting.
