Yes, he will be forever associated with Frankel, but we all know anyone could have ridden Frankel and won.
Not if I had been in the plate.

You’re too modest!
October 20, 2014 at 12:59 #492993I agree James Doyle has got on really well with the horse and gave him an absolute peach on Saturday. He needed to get those fractions exactly right as we have seen Noble Mission empty out on other occasions this year when perhaps too vigorously ridden. He got it spot on this time.
If it was James’ idea to change the tactics he does indeed deserve all the plaudits. I think it might have been a team one though.

October 20, 2014 at 13:09 #492995I’ve always thought that Noble Mission has had a bit too much between the ears but they certainly appear to have found the key to him this year. Looks like an 8-10lbs improvement to me.
I’m not necessarily sold on the idea that he’s a soft ground only horse, but the right tactics appear to have given him greater battling qualities than before, which helps on an easy surface.
Be nice to see him next season, but the temptation to go off to stud will be immense.

October 20, 2014 at 13:28 #492999Yessssss!!! In total agreement with you Mike which feels really good.
I don’t think NM is just a soft ground horse either. I would love to see him burning off the opposition on faster ground and think it could even play to his strengths as he would use that big stride and be less likely to empty out. Let’s hope they keep him going one more year.

October 23, 2014 at 18:13 #493218AT LEAST AS A GROUP ONE WINNER WILL KEEP HIS BROTHER’S STUD FEE REASONABLE.PERHAPS FRANKEL IS FULL FOR THE SEASON ! HOW ABOUT HIS FULL BROTHER FOR A QUARTER OF THE FEE? NOW I MUST UNDO MY CAP LOCKS.
November 3, 2014 at 21:19 #494444Noble Mission is off to stud. No more running about in the mud at the head of affairs, playing catch me if you can. It will be affairs of a different sort. All his conquests will be caught and brought to him. How civilized.
From The Blood Horse;
“
Lane’s End Farm has purchased a majority interest in Noble Mission, and will stand the son of Galileo in association with Juddmonte Farms in 2015 at Lane’s End in Versailles, Kentucky.
Three time group I winner Noble Mission most recently capped off an exceptional career with a win in the QIPCO Champion Stakes (Eng-I) reminiscent of his brother Frankel two years ago. An outstanding 2014 for Juddmonte Farms and trainer Lady Cecil was highlighted by wins in the Tattersalls Gold Cup (Ire-I) and the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (Fr-I).
“Juddmonte Farms has been an extraordinary breeding and racing operation over the years, and we’re thrilled to be a part of this horse," Lane’s End owner Will Farish said. "Many of the world’s best stallions are in Europe, and we feel the need to revert to the days of importing top-class European horses to stand in America.
Juddmonte racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe said: "Noble Mission was a thrill for all of us at Juddmonte and of course Lady Cecil. He’s one of the best in his division and has ensured his place at stud. Lane’s End expressed a strong interest in the horse, and the prince was happy to go on and stand him in America. We look forward to supporting him."There have been plenty of occasions down the years when when, of two brothers, the inferior racehorse has turned out to be the superior stallion, so perhaps Juddmonte are right to retain part ownership.
November 3, 2014 at 21:27 #494446Happy Retirement NM and thanks for the memories!!!

November 3, 2014 at 22:30 #494451Gede; you must really have enjoyed the finish to the Classic? Three great horses giving it their all for the prize of the year.Incidentally I wonder if the second lacked a little battle hardiness. Not meaning to change the subject.Sorry.
November 4, 2014 at 04:45 #494464Seems strange to stand a horse that seems to be more of a soft ground horse at stud in America but the Frankel connection will probably get him a full book of mares. Interesting to see how his progeny fare over there. What a great place to ‘retire’ to. Bet Frankel is envious.
