This is why i love flat racing …horse racing !!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 18, 2014 at 16:02 #492785Great to see – was willing him on, what a fantastic story.
October 18, 2014 at 16:35 #492790What a fairytale result.
Almost hoarse from shouting.
Great training performance, and what a great ride from Doyle.October 18, 2014 at 16:46 #492793What a horse and what a transformation. Lady Cecil has done more than simply inherit a talented animal – she’s transformed Noble Mission from the rogue who never found anything under pressure into the toughest warrior in training. Lady Cecil and James Doyle deserve endless credit for that.
I think I heard that today would be his last run win lose or draw. Is that true?
October 18, 2014 at 20:29 #492813I’m not generally much of a flat racing fan, because you don’t get those wonderful, emotional results, but wow! That was very special. Lovely.
October 18, 2014 at 21:24 #492817Echo all the above – an incredible race and a performance of guts and courage from what was an old rogue until the new tactics. Sir Henry would have been so proud.
TYF according to Teddy today, he could well stay in training but PK hasn’t decided yet.
A wonderful result for Warren Place and it may just have saved them. I truly hope so.
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
October 18, 2014 at 21:41 #492818What a great dual down the home straight between Noble Mission and Al Kazeem. It looked for sure Roger Charlton’s horse was going to go past but Noble Mission displayed pure heart and guts to hold on. Noble Mission was a pure professional in the prelims and took it all in his stride so laid back whereas Al Kazeem was a bit of a monkey playing up and looking at all the crowd. Cirrus Des Aigles looked great to my eye but pulled extremely hard on the way to post which wouldn’t have done his chances much good.

Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
October 18, 2014 at 22:28 #492826Absolutely thrilled to bits for Noble Mission. The sheer determination to fight back and snatch the race from the jaws of defeat will stay very long in the memory. Seeing this wonderful horse over the years was like observing a caterpillar metamorphosing into a beautiful butterfly and flying out of the shadow of his legendary brother.
Noble Mission has to be the Flat horse of the year for me.
October 18, 2014 at 23:22 #492830Fantastic race and absolutely wonderful to see Noble Mission emulate his brother.
Pleased for everyone at Warren Place.
October 18, 2014 at 23:36 #492831Echo the above comments, thrilling stuff, Cheltenham can wait for a few months and tosh off with their very mediocre "showcase"

Hopefully the Cecil name will be present at the top table for a few more years yet.
October 19, 2014 at 06:51 #492837Wonderful result, so emotional. when Al Kazeem looked as though he might assert I was on my feet shouting ‘fight back, fight back’ oh and he did. What a fantastic result and the emotion on Lady Cecil’s face as she saw her wildest dreams turn to reality was so touching, a great tribute to all at Warren Place, Sir Henry’s legacy lives on.
All credit to Al Kazeem who seems to have regained his fighting spirit and will be a force to contend with next season.
Love the pictures Nathan, thank you. Thought Cirrus looked very fizzy going to post and not his old self, whereas in contrast Noble Mission was so relaxed. A great day to go down in racing history and the Cecil flag flies high at Warren Place today.

Lydia Hislop’s reaction on RUK was fantastic as well. You could tell by her voice that she was very close to tears. Lydia and Steve Mellish are the two best by a million miles.
October 19, 2014 at 16:44 #492916100% agree IBRacing.
I stood behind Lydia at Newmarket when John Dunlop’s Elusive Pimpernel won the Craven Stakes, Lydia was punching the air and willing him home. Wouldn’t I love her job

October 19, 2014 at 21:46 #492942A very heart warming story indeed.
Looking back at Noble Mission’s record it is interesting that Tom Queally’s figures are : Won 3 Lost 8.
James Doyle is now 4 from 5, including 3 Group 1s.
On several of the occasions Queally rode the horse he was "slowly away", often pulling hard when met with restraint. This was also the case when Doyle rode the brother of Frankel for the first time. Doyle seemed to learn something about the horse in that one ride and the next time he rode him he set about making all – and has tried to do the same since (at Munich when he was unable to dominate he was beaten).
I cannot help but think that James Doyle has proven a major factor in the horse’s remarkable improvement this season and that Tom Queally was responsible for preventing a lot of horses from reaching their true potential. Yes, he will be forever associated with Frankel, but we all know anyone could have ridden Frankel and won.
Queally’s fall from favour since his departure from Warren Place tells you all you need to know about the faith the top trainers/owners place in his ability.
October 19, 2014 at 21:55 #492943But Sir Henry had faith in him; surely that counts for something.
