Farcical scenes before the Welsh National leading it to going off 7 mins late and ATR ridiculously going split screen during it with the distant dots on the horizon at Limerick.

I thought I was watching the opening of the Welsh Parliament, rather than the lead up to a horse race. All we needed was Tom Jones singing Sex Bomb and Max Boyce with a giant leek chanting "uggy, uggy, uggy" to let viewers know it wasn’t the Irish Grand National we were eventually about to see.

Trumpets need to be inserted into certain sphincters and parped rather vigorously to let it be known that pompous pomp adds nothing to the sport.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Virgin Media has already lost 10 channels due to a dispute with BBC. Today I have read that the same sort of dispute is taking place with ITV and the disappearance of ITV2, 3 and 4 could happen within days. So goodbye racing for me and many other enthusiasts. It will be a big hassle to change from Virgin, as we have all our communications with them and we really need cable in our area for the reception. This is bad news for Virgin as I think many current subscribers will be looking at reducing their packages. I for one will down grade to less HD channels if this goes ahead.

Virgin Media sent me a a customer service email this morning, on all the category’s I put zeros, in the comments box I typed “what the point”.

Some of the channels they removed you can view on freeview is this not taken the piss, being a resourceful person I bought one of those special firesticks off Ebay, setup wifi job sorted every channel at my disposal.

We all know that ATR in its current format is coming to an end in 2019, no problem get yourself a firestick.

With regards to BBC problem with on demand channels, if you watch television only using on demand, you do not require a television license, which is a rip off at £152 just to watch terrestrial television live.

These days I rarely watch racing on television, there is far too much racing, in 2019 there will be 1,511 meetings in the calendar.

Those firesticks, Mike, do they cast onto your TV everything you can access on a laptop including websites subscribed to? It confuses me, isn’t Chrome cast the same? Which firestick did you buy, I wouldn’t have a clue which is best and as I think they cost about £50 i don’t want to get the wrong one!

They are supplied by the firm who name is a famous south American river, then they are bought and adapted by private individuals with add-ons.
Using my USB firestick I was just watching Lovejoy on Drama, and the listed 2yo race at Sandown on RUK, I paid £64 for my firestick, I have even added my own stuff on the firestick, plenty of tutorials on YouTube on the subject.

    No worries, all sorted.

....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.

I thought they would have to sort this out or lose their business. Hopefully they will eventually reach a deal with UKTV, not that I watch much of it but many subscribers do.

    No worries, all sorted.

Thank goodness for that. I’d be lost without Poirot, Miss Marple, Vera, Foyles War, Endeavour, and Midsomer Murders on ITV3

I rather wish the BBC would add a dedicated Archive channel, akin to ITV3

I take your point but I was thinking along the lines of an advert-free BBC5 dedicated to showing rather more than repeats of ‘Are You Being Served’ ‘Only Fools and Horses’ and ‘Lovejoy’ , enjoyable though they are

The Drama channel have repeated a few of the classic serials that the BBC are rightly famed for: ‘Colditz’ and ‘When the Boat Comes In’ spring to mind; and I would like to see more of that sort of thing

The BBC makes a lot of money owning 50% of uktv and selling the box rights of their shows to Netflix and advertising. I hardly think making a non commericial channel will be very cost effective or profitable.

Although the disaster with ITV as be averted, the law prevents them from pulling ITV1 from the air, as it’s got to be provide across all formats of TV. So if you were to take your viewing card out (Sky & Virgin especially ) you should still be able to pick these channels up.

However where the law is out dated is ITV HD is not covered and all the other ITV channels.

You've got to accentuate the positive.
    Eliminate the negative.
    Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.

Following installation of Virginmedia about six months ago I remarked to the cable-layer that it would be nice to remove the redundant roof aerial

‘Leave it up there, all this could go tits-up sometime’ was the gist of his refreshingly honest reply

Due to dish restrictions we have always had to have virgin. Not a company I admire in the slightest but have to say their broadband is first class. However their indian call centre is horrific

i watch itv racing on ITV hub usually, which works well

“However their indian call centre is horrific”

Can you prove that it wouldn’t be equally “horrific” if it were based in the UK?

Or are you just being racist?

I don’t think Clive is being racist here. There is certainly language / accent barriers from Call Centres based in other countries whether it be India or another country. I know from personal experience I struggle with them and I’m sure they struggle with my Yorkshire accent. Not that some Call Centres in the UK are also horrendous and there can be accent barriers here too.
