Does anyone watch her ‘cookery show?’ Was flicking throught he channels and came across this. Unreal!! Is this a joke or am I missing the point?
She made some chocolate cookies cos her friend called her to say she had split with her man. Cue friend who comes on in tears to consume the goodies
It’s unreal. It’s like food pornography in other recipes…licking the utensils as if ..well you know…Then to top it all off, we see her in the bedroom saying "I can’t sleep, so I’m going to make some french toast doughnuts…mmmm. No wonder she has a large bottom. So in the middle of the night she goes to her pantry and tells us it’s her comfort room and she often strokes the shelves. What??!!! I have not laughed so much since we beat the Aussies at rugby. I also hear it’s not actually filmed in her house but a studio..
I will also add that I shall tune in next week to see if she coats herself in chocolate. She must be doing something right!!

October 15, 2007 at 21:48 #119739The bloody woman annoys me intensely – she sits firmly at the bottom of my list of celebrity chefs to watch – below even Gary Rhodes and Gordon Ramsay. Hmm. Thinking about it, perhaps that would stop her treating her cooking utensils as sex objects ….
October 17, 2007 at 17:20 #120103The only cook I know from the telly is that slavering bloke. The one that’s the white homosexual midget trapped in the body of a 6’4" black man, I don’t know what he’s called though.
October 17, 2007 at 17:29 #120106Wouldn’t eat anything he cooked, sounds revolting
October 17, 2007 at 17:39 #120113Did you know that it is not her real kitchen?
I read the other day that an exact replica has been made at the studio of where the programme is made; even her children have been roped-in to supply the various drawings about the place to make it look authentic.

October 17, 2007 at 18:22 #120122I’m not fond of Miss Lawson, personally or professionally. Well I hold her father largely responsible after he demolished tax relief on mortgages some years ago.
Rick Stein isnt too bad, I quite like what he does with fish

I was in Padstow recently, he virtually owns the town. His fish and chips are cooked in beef dripping and a friend who tried them told me he thought it was "puuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuke!"…and made him sick.
I did enquire with a member of staff about getting them cooked in sunflower oil but the lady of East European origin who I’m very sorry to say had a limited command of English, mumbled something about Squid in veggie oil, and I thought better to leave it at that. Not a good recommendation for his premises. I’m all in favour of people working here but please, they do need to make themselves understood
however, his sausage rolls are simply out of this world, you’ve never tasted a better one, and some of his chutneys and pickles are delicious, along with his cakes and other delicacies. So that’s nice
October 17, 2007 at 19:28 #120129Bit partial to a sausage roll now and again UM so i’ll bear that in mind. Ooh and pickle..I think he’s a good chef and so enthusiastic about all food but he’s done a bit of a Jamie Oliver and got involved in just about everything. Though not nearly as bad. Jamie has gone overkill…His name is on everything these days. I know I know he’s just making a living etc etc…
Maybe he could manage our footy team too. Russian salad anyone?October 17, 2007 at 19:47 #120135Don’t knock Nigella, she’s one of my fantasy women. Classy and cultured to boot; like me, I’m sure she likes a bit of Handel in the morning!
October 17, 2007 at 19:54 #120138I must admit I’m not a particular fan. The idea that sexy camera angles etc etc is what we as viewers want is cheap patronising. However, it is only fair to reconise that she and her children did lose their husband and father to cancer. Fair play to her is what what I say.
October 17, 2007 at 20:07 #120142I can’t remember her husband’s name, he was a pretty good journalist wasn’t he, but she’s now married to Charles Saatchi isn’t she?
October 17, 2007 at 20:21 #120145That’s right M. John Diamond was her first husband. [/i]
October 17, 2007 at 20:29 #120146A new series (I think)…New Dragon. I love the show. Some of my friends say it’s cruel cos it shatters so manypeople’s dreams. That’s the point surely. Some ideas I think are excellent but there is no investment, it’s all about opnion. In business that’s how it goes, surely. I had a huge(ish) row over this with someone at work today.
October 17, 2007 at 20:39 #120148Crizzy…your right, it’s a strange thing to us not in their position, but it’s the numbers that matter and not an idea. If you look careful at the way the ‘Dragons’ work really all their are interested in is covering their own investment….
October 17, 2007 at 20:52 #120149That’s sad about Miss Lawson’s first husband, I didn’t know that. Maybe I’ll look on her a little differently.
Cooking wise I prefer Delia Smith for most things – she taught me how to make bread – and have many of her recipes which I refer to frequently. Not so keen when she ventures onto the football pitch though
October 17, 2007 at 21:35 #120163remember seeing a programme about John Diamond when he was very ill, I think he wrote a newspaper column about his illness – what was terribly sad was that they obviously had this amazing social life revolving around wonderful meals with brilliant conversation and he lost his voice and had to type everything down, but was very brave and made me feel rather humble. still think however that this current programme is silly but may mimic it when cooking the christmas dinner [last years was ‘this isn’t just food, this is m&s food’ well, most of it was] – by the way UM am very impressed with ability to cook bread…..
October 17, 2007 at 22:23 #120170Nigella is my kind of woman – she can be as sexy as she wants in the kitchen or anywhere else as far as I am concerned – but enough of my dreaming!!
Image aside there are some good recipes in her current series – I tried the Amaretto Syllabub last night – quite rich, loaded with calories but what the heck – it was good.
The story of John Diamond was a moving one – quite ironic that such an excellent broadcaster succumbed to throat cancer – but his story was an inspiration.
Very similar to the chap, whose name – I am ashamed to say – escapes me at the moment, who had a blog on the BBC News web site detailing his fight with a brain tumour.
