Hope his wife gets him an atlas for his christmas
"We were very happy with him at Kelso as he jumped well apart from one mistake three or four out and for the north of England it was a well above average race"
December 17, 2008 at 22:19 #197693If this is the same article, a bit later on he said, "…we’ll let him (Palomar) do the talking." Probably a good idea!

December 18, 2008 at 23:45 #197912He has an interesting runner at Ascot on Saturday that certainly isn’t getting the cotton wool treatment. Noble Alan runs in the Ladbroke after just four previous appearances over hurdles, all in novice company.
What makes him interesting is that Richards declared him to run in the original Fighting Fifth at Newcastle that was called off, knowing that a good run there wouldn’t affect his weight for Ascot. He ducked the rescheduled race at Wetherby, presumably to keep the horse fresh for this race.
Now I’m not an avid follower of the stable, but my feeling is that it would be very unusual for Richards to throw a 140 rated novice into a Grade 1 hurdle race, and that he must have a very high opinion of the horse to explain the move.
On the bare form of his latest second in a valuable novice handicap at Cheltenham won by Font, he has plenty to find, but my guess is that he’ll run a lot better than the current 20/1 would suggest.
And anyway, it’s a great name for a horse …………….
December 19, 2008 at 00:11 #197915I’ve known the stable for a very long time and they do not entertain geese as swans. Nicky is very shrewd and also very capable, like his father. I’m sure the horse must have an excellent chance if he turns up.

Take a look again at the Cheltenham 2nd to Font. he was given a pretty shocking ride…over confident to be kind. His position at Cheltenham grossly understated his ability.
I got on at 50/1 each way for the original Fighting Fifth on the dead eight… but obviously we learned nothing in the end.
25/1 looks a very fair price on a track that should suit admirably. - AuthorPosts
