It would make Chester a lot less crowded if they did!

“Distancing rules are a load of old cobblers anyway, aren’t they?”

    What a stupid remark.

You are entitled to your opinion, Matron, and so am I.

    Thanks in advance.

A joke I came across recently regarding the lowish infection rates in Sweden despite minimal restrictions

‘In Sweden we’ve abandoned the two-metre distance rule and returned to the usual five metres’

Sweden is getting on for twice the size and has a population one-sixth that of the UK

Dear oh dear drone..I’ve heard that one thrown about (not ten 5 meters joke) before

Greater % of swedes live in big cities and Stockholm is pretty High density i recall

Population density isn’t exactly evenly spread in any country

er…I wasn’t advocating population density as the reason Sweden’s got off relatively likely despite light touch restrictions, just as an explainer to the joke for those who weren’t aware of the country’s size and population relative to the UK’s. As a riposte to the minor Tank-Matron spat it seemed apposite. Anyway, a rather good joke I think

As you say, a country’s average population density means next to nothing; it’s the high densities in urban areas that cause rapid transmission

For what it’s worth I tend to believe the theory that the reason Sweden has been affected in no worse a manner than elsewhere in Europe is because it has a relatively more egalitarian, healthy and contented society; hence the populace are likely to be more compliant when given government directives: advice is heeded, command isn’t needed
