NICK LUCK is commentating live on the cross country today. He is excellent. Well prepared / professional.

Yes I agree he was very good and made sensible observations. Did you see Elizabeth Power (Robbie’s sister) on the XC? Super looking athletic fast horse she has. A talented family!!

He is ruining the Goodwood coverage with his unfunny stories and pompousness.

Shame RUK have so much time between races today that he has time to waffle so much nonsense.

He’s better doing the eventing than the racing, but I feel he is starting to deteriorate as he finds his feet. The cheerleading for Townend was unnecessary: selectors made their choice, and have their reasons for leaving him at home. Badminton is fresh in the mind too, so to be totally uncritical, and talk him up as some sort of harmless maverick or ‘character’ is crass. Yes, Elizabeth Power was brilliant, and sounds as though she has limited resources at her disposal.

Agree with steveh31, dreadful stuff from Luck & Mellish at Goodwood. Preferred it when there was a bit of friction between the pair at Newbury a few years ago. I suppose that’s what you have to do to stay on the gravy train these days.

@yeats to be fair Luck did comment about them working together again next week at Epsom and there is usually about 7 months between them next working with each other.

Luck seemingly was trying to be all “ATR man down the pub jolly” yesterday with his unfunny stories about Dennis Priestly but he just came across in his usual snobbish way, stories about picking up famous people in your car years ago would go well with your mates at the pub it just doesn’t work from Nick Luck just came across as false and trying to hard and to add to the embarrassment Mike Cattermole on commentary was laughing and saying “great stories Nick” to try to add to it.
