I feared the worst after seeing Newfangled pulled up in today’s Lowther. It was just reported on C4 that she has cracked her pelvis and Francome thinks she she might be OK. Hope he is right.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
August 23, 2012 at 14:29 #410672Hear hear! I had her down as the Guineas winner.

She wasn’t favourite for nothing! A few more words might help you out of the hole you just dug yourself!
August 23, 2012 at 21:56 #410714My heart sank when Newfangled pulled up today, and now it is confirmed that she has suffered some sort of pelvic injury, which most definitely means she is now out for the rest of the season but thankfully still with us.
I was at Newmarket to see Newfangled win her maiden and she immediately went into the ‘notebook’. Unlike Dawn Approach she looks nothing like her sire more like her dam sire Machiavellian, but what a future she had ahead of her, and now it could be sadly ended prematurely.
All good wishes for a speedy recovery and a possible continuation of her career. She is in the best of hands at the state of the art Newmarket Equine Hospital and of course the next 24 hours will tell us how severe her injury is, but like everyone else I’m hoping and praying that she will be okay.

August 24, 2012 at 21:15 #410874Sad indeed. She was top of my Guineas list too.
August 24, 2012 at 21:19 #410876Gutted. Even more poignant when you think back to what JG said just before the race. She had recently had a growth spurt and he was worried that she might be a bit weak.

August 25, 2012 at 08:25 #410931Those American female bloodlines are always a risk, plenty have trouble so it doesn’t come as a surprise – would have been America at the end of the year and stud/sold anyway.
Sad loss nevertheless.
