State Man Vs Brighterdaysahead… with Mystical Power in there too.
Anyone heard what happened with the latter at Newcastle?

The more I know the less I understand.
December 29, 2024 at 10:49 #1716924Mystical power extra places at 5s is a solid evens bet , He ran so bad at Newcastle it wasn’t true
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 29, 2024 at 13:11 #1716939True “too bad to be true”, but if team Mullins don’t know the reason then it could easily happen again.
For today – the best bet is surely Brighterdaysahead each way @ 3/1 (now best 11/4) 2 places. Even if Mystical Power returned to his Grade 1 novice form, the mare has quite a bit in hand of that one. Albeit I thought there was a good chance of Mystical Power improving into a Champion Hurdle contender himself this year. But for Mystical Power to improve enough in one go – in one month – is imo asking a lot.
They say don’t bet each way in a 6 runner race. But when the third fav is available @ 15/1 in the win market and all the rest are 94/1 +… Likelihood of those three finishing in the first two is negligable… And Mystical Power’s chance in doing so isn’t great either. Unless the principle duo go too quick. That said, I wouldn’t put anyone off backing Mystical Power or Winter Fog if hoping for that scenario.
Betting each way on a 3/1 or 11//4 chance won’t get all money back if second, but it gets most.
Value Is EverythingDecember 29, 2024 at 13:53 #1716943Elliott has stated betterdaysahead will be heading to the mares at the festival , doesn’t inspire confidence for today

December 29, 2024 at 14:36 #1716953Demolition job!
December 29, 2024 at 14:37 #1716954State Man closing???? 15 lengths down, but beaten 100 yards in the end….
What a performance!!!Nice EW Wilts, had the F/C which returns 75/1.
December 29, 2024 at 14:37 #1716955What the hell was Towsend playing at there , she’ll have to go to the CH now
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 29, 2024 at 14:42 #1716957State Man never in the race and barely held on for 3rd place – I guess they can’t go Mares Hurdle know after that performance but they would need to employ the same tactics and I very much doubt she would be given that kind of leeway again.
Mullins seemed to still be looking to go to the Champion with Lossiemouth after Kempton and I would imagine that is now even more the case after this ‘run’ from State Man, question is do the Donnelly’s now override Hendo and re-direct Sir Geno back to the Champion Hurdle?????
December 29, 2024 at 14:43 #1716958“Nice EW Wilts, had the F/C which returns 75/1.”
Erm, my punt, as it turned out, was the Elliot pacemaker for the winner.
Winter Fog was 2nd
December 29, 2024 at 14:46 #1716959State Man has clearly run below form beaten over 30 lengths.
December 29, 2024 at 14:48 #1716960That’s 3 or 4 of Mullins ran poorly today , as if not finishing there races
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 29, 2024 at 14:53 #1716961My mistake Wilts, I only had the 66/1 on my mind.

Next to no chance, given how Sir Gino strolled home at Kempton. Had he been beaten, reverting to hurdles might have been a possibility.
The only way Sir Gino might get switched is if something goes amiss with Constitution Hill.
And let’s not forget that the owners also have Anzadam, who could be anything.
