Just won his first dressage competition yesterday. Well done, old son. <!– s:D –>
<!– s:D –>November 19, 2012 at 22:38 #420352Wow, what a horse Neptune Collonges is.
From the adrenaline of being racehorse, his new career demands totally different attributes. He must be very versatile and intelligent.

What a fantastic story and picture, John Hales and all connections must be so proud of him.
Lets hope we can see more of the same from a possible rival in Kauto Star in the future, they might even get to battle it out in the show ring
Good luck to Neptunes, Kauto and Denman in their retirement.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...November 20, 2012 at 15:38 #420388Supposedly they did try him as a showjumper, but he wouldn’t slow down enough.
November 22, 2012 at 22:35 #420538Wonderful story. Great to see any racehorse enjoying "retirement", let alone one I have such a soft spot for like the top class Neptune Collonges. Hope Channel 4 do a feature on him for next year’s National.
I know this is the owners daughter doing a tremendous job; but all of us should support the Racehorse Rehabilitation Groups like Greatwood and Moorcroft. Their care enables so many of our favourites to find another career.
Value Is EverythingNovember 22, 2012 at 22:58 #420543Not forgetting the TRC (Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre) as well Ginger, they had the late great Hello Dandy with them for a long and happy retirement until he died age 33 a few years back..all great organisations that desperately need our support.
Not all as lucky as dear old Neptunes Collonges.
Wonder how that other great grey Monet’s Garden is getting on in retirement

It was a thrill to see him in the flesh. I think he was disappointed to not be racing!

Great News TYF thanks for the update, I’m so jealous
What a fighter he is, great to hear that he is back to his old self again.
