Oh, I think Monet’s Garden will prove one of those horses who is flexible as regards trip, Grasshopper, purely because of the ease with which he travels.
At eight, he’s in his prime. The Charlie Hall to start with?
I don’t really remember Gordon Richards, (except for the magnificent One Man). What was his chosen route for good horses? Did he have a good track record at Kempton? (His son has had one losing runner there in five seasons).

September 4, 2006 at 15:09 #76299Being a Roselier you’d expect 3m would be no problem though the profile of his unraced dam’s relatives doesn’t exactly add conviction. I’d like to think he’ll be one of those capable of top-class form at all distances between 2m and 3m+ as the Richards’ beloved One Man nearly was.
It’s a shame the proper Edward Hanmer Chase is no more as that would have been an ideal starting point IMO. KG apart a rather softer option that springs to mind would be the Future Stars Intermediate Chase (think he’s qualified) at the Tingle Creek meeting. Love to see him cutting it over the Railway fences.
Amen to that. Do we know yet whether the suggestion of the course to replace the famous, big black drop fences with portable equivalents ever progressed beyond just that? Hope not – Haydock in its present (and past) guise is a proper track for proper horses.

September 4, 2006 at 19:57 #76301I’m thoroughly bored with summer racing now, so seeing all those names Zoz, has quite got my mouth watering!
I can’t wait for My Way de Solzen, Star De Mohaison, but the one I really shall look forward to welcoming back is Fethard Lady. I’d love to see if she’s really as good as she looked last year.
He could go for both, as Barton Bank did in 1993.
September 6, 2006 at 20:59 #76303I wonder if this Newman des Plages would make a go of things if brought over here.
