“My concern with Ms Parfois is thatI read that she sweated up and seemed quite nervous when she ran at Uttoxeter; I haven’t seen that race, but it would be a worry if the Cheltenham atmosphere got to her.”

Very fair comment – not something I had considered. She was generally fine at Uttoxeter (from what I can remember, I was there), but she has been sweaty/on her toes in some of her races since. She tends to wear ear plugs on the way to the start.

Given that Jamie Codd has the ride on Jury Duty you would think that Elliot fancies him over Mossback.

Mossback and Rathvinden are the two highest rated horses in the field although it’s close.

    Rathvinden for me each way.

How few will finish? There’s not a horse in the race that I’d be confident will jump round and stay. Most of these novices are going up a mile in trip on ground more associated with the Eider or Midlands National. This race rarely goes to outsiders, however, and I’m not convinced Heavy will change that as common sense may prevail per the pace.

Mullins says Rathvinden relaxes in a race and along with Ms Parfois (tiny bit worried re Honeyball stable form) those two are in the top 4 or 5 on ratings so will take a couple of Win shots, both 7/1.

Earlier this year I went for Monbeg Notirous, unfortunately he was pulled out here. Mossback was beaten half a lengt by Monbeg Notirous in his last year and after hearing he is the bet of tuesday for Elliot I stepped in. Took 10/1 earlier this week.

Hard race… I like Jury Duty’s form, but have doubts over stamina… as I have for most of them… will go with him

The more I think about it Rathvinden has a similar profile to Rule The World. Top class Festival novice form (behind Faugheen), time off injured, way up in trip on Heavy ground.

I think the Irish have this one covered.

    Jury Duty 6/1
    Mossback 6/1

I’m going to take a chance on Keeper Hill. Was still going well enough when falling LTO in a race won by Barney Dwan and whilst his jumping would be a slight concern the slower pace of this race might negate that a little. By Westerner so should handle the ground and hopefully the trip so a nice EW at around 14/1. Ms Parfois would be the one for the RFC

Ms Parfois should not have lost that, the best horse in that race. The jockey won that. Well done to Rathvinden.

I’d have to disagree with the previous comment. Rathvinden was the best horse in the race. I think both jockeys gave good rides, but the ride of the race was by Katie Walsh.

Quick question… Did anyone who backed Jury Duty actually look at his previous race?

    Can’t agree with that, Degaused.
Rathvinden was the only one to come from the back and always travelling best. Even when Ms P took it up on the run-in Mullins hadn’t gone for everything.

Fair comments the last two. Winner way very impressive, just a shame Ms Parfois made that mistake two out.

On to the Welsh National she goes!

I didn’t bet this race but was watching to see how Ms Parfois got on. The horse who was third behind her at Warwick went on to beat Shantou Flyer at Kelso.

Wtih Ms Parfois and Shantou Flyer both second today, I am happy that Black Corton, who beat the former 8 lengths last time, should line up with a chance in the RSA.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Patrick Mullins banned for 6 days for using his whip too much.
