John Gosden’s Coronation Stakes winner tests positive for bute, announced on Radio 5 this morning.
They are now awaiting the results of the B sample tests, if they confirm the first result, she will be disqualified and Flashy Wings’ owners will receive the prize.
It seems one of Gosden’s was found the same last year and he received a £600 fine.
Probably Gosden has recorded the use of Bute in her medicine record and it will be that the filly has retained traces of Bute in her system longer than the recommended clearance period of 7 days before racing. That would be unfortunate.
I imagine that if no records have been kept , or the horse raced too quickly after dosage then it would certainly be carelessness and Gosden would be much more severely treated.
