A while ago Sportingbet annouced that new customers would receive a free bet of £100.00.
I opened an account so did my partner who used a different e mail address.
Once the accounts were running I discovered that to get the ‘free bet’ of £100 you had to place a bet of £25.00 to recive the free bet of £25.00 the following week. The Monday after the first bet you then had to notify them to get the free bet on the account on Tuesday. On the 3rd Monday I notified them of the bet from the previous week and they refused to credit me with the free bet on the Tuesday and it never appeared on the accounts.
I teelphoned them but got a load of rubbish refering to rules they had. So I e mailed them and they replied that they had a right to refuse the bets as ‘I was clearly not a recreational punter’ That is the words they used. They also mentioned ‘unusual beting patterns’.
The bets struck were 1favourites and 1second favourites so how could they state there were unusual betting patterns? What is a recreational punter and a non recreational punter?
My partner did exactly the same bets as me and she also was refused the free bets in week 3.
June 18, 2008 at 10:14 #168986sorry to hear all that effort for nothing,
write a tip for ascot on the pavement outside the pier sit by with cap, some people will take pity chuck a couple of pennies in it.
June 18, 2008 at 10:25 #168992Why dont you try betting in all those reduced e/w terms 14 and 15 runner handicaps run on false ground Seagull. Plenty of them about and they’ll soon have you back with open arms. Remember to bet early though, so the post lunchtime non runners dont get in your way.

The tip would be get on betfair and avoid getting ripped off in the shops and by one or two bookies on course!PS
How much u down on that Harry Findlay banker at Windsor last Monday night?June 18, 2008 at 14:04 #169071The bookmakers are scared that you are "arbing". For years I’ve studied the form, gone on oddschecker in the morning and taking the best prices that were available. Over the last few months, I’ve had virtually all of my internet accounts closed, and been told that "they don’t like my betting patterns", and "I’m only betting with them when they offer the best price". Bookmakers only want mugs as account holders these days. Open yourself a Betfair account and don’t bother with the bookies, you will get better odds, and certainly won’t have your account closed.

Exactly. Would the girl on the checkout at Tescos have a look in your basket and say "I’m sorry we can’t let you shop here any more as you appear to only buy the items that are on special offer"
