Well played Ghost, i too backed "Comply" for the National Ante-post at 20/1 purely on the basis of his 2nd and 4th place finishes behind "Trabolgan" in the 05 Sun Alliance and Hennessey. Winning the Eider only confirmed he had "National" written all over him!
I find taking an enforced break from Betting helps if your confidence ever wains! Although i can go 3-4 weeks between bets anyway! Its the 90%
Mug punters that bet eveyday. Bookmakers love em!December 25, 2008 at 02:58 #199099Ghost when you bet make sure your giving the horse, trainer and jockey no excuses for a bad run then your half way there.
Usually the reasons (excuses?) for a poor run from your selection will only become obvious AFTER the race ………. and after you have done your dough.
For the past three years I have 90% avoided being on a horse that has unexpectedly run a poor race, by solely betting in-running. If you make yourself acquainted with pace and strategy you will not find yourself having a wasted bet on a horse that is racing below par in a particular race.I’ve been betting on horses going on now for 35 years ……….. and I can honestly say hand-on-heart that I had never had a single winning year until marginalising my bets to in-running 3 years ago. Since, I have never had a solitary losing month.
Never again will my wallet be mugged by a non-trier. In-running ( mine is limited to RUK tracks and analogue terrestrial signal) is in-my-opinion a godsend to the punter who does not have a direct line to the stable. You will see how your selection is performing in the race BEFORE you bet it. How better can it get!
