Thanks Kers…. I really dont mind the losing runs and this is the worst run since November and that was 24 on the bounce, I just didn’t need another of the same duration on my first month of putting it up on the board. I’m as safe as houses at levels because I’m using a 50pt bank…. but that same size bank is gonna be almost gone by Saturday when using the Staking Plan, at least it’ll show whether the wise thing is to use a plan or stick with levels. It matters not now, the beds made and I have to lie on it but if I do blow the 50pt bank on the Staking plan, I will carry on at levels because I’m bloody sure that this is worth persevering with….. thanks again Kers, catch ya later….

Thanks for your best wishes Matron, I needed a bit of help then…. ;)  … I wasn’t too bothered personally cos it was only on paper, I haven’t bet for a week cos of the weather. If me and the dog (thats dog as in woof woof, not dog as in spouse… hehehe) were too exhausted to haul ourselves outa the deckchairs to get a lager outa the fridge, then it was surely far to hot for those poor old GG’s to be running like the clappers with a few hundred weight of human bean sat on their backs, well, thats my excuse for not betting, my missus just reckons I’m a jammy git……  :biggrin: :biggrin:

Phew!!!!…. 16 losers on the trot but we came through. There’s a lot to be said for betting at the higher odds cos I bettered most of those prices on Betfair. I can’t seem to find much value at the shorter prices, hence my use of the "rolling doubles", but none of that is required at this end of the scale. I think I’m getting hooked on this H/cap system….. catch ya later guys, and thanks for the well wishes, I needed it cos I was crapping myself…<br>:biggrin: :biggrin:

Thanks Nick ‘n Paul, yep, t’was great to see the back of that losing run but I really never had any doubts about it. The price range that were betting in makes it a certainty for long losing spells, my only doubts are which (if any) staking plan should be used. I have shown a profit to levels every month since I’ve started except for 1 month where I ended up 5pts down but apart from that month, my lowest month so far has been +20. The problem as I see it is as Kers says, the peaks and the troughs, how can you still keep betting when you’ve had 16 losers, especially when used with a staking plan, if your using the wrong plan you can go belly up pretty damn quick. At present I use a simple plan that requires a 50pt bank, this would last for 25 continuous losers, 18 losers is no trouble but cos things have gone awry, I utilise the plan to its fullest and I adopt a "suicide" charge for the final 7 bets in a fit of S**t or bust, after all, its only a 50pt bank and if you can’t risk it we shouldn’t be betting…..<br>I think there’s lots of little systems about that can give a good return and I dont think that finding that elusive system is the answer, I think its around us, Kers "Pointers" is one of many. The answer has to be getting the correct staking method that ensures a reasonable return for the investment, but most of the plans go for broke in an attempt to get rich quick, that won’t work…… so guys, somebody ought to start another thread on staking, then we might get some answers…..<br>:biggrin: :biggrin: :biggrin:

With regards to staking I see nothing wrong with level stakes, afterall your 2nd worst month was +20pts which is hardly a disaster !!
One possibility which I would suggest though is to place exactly 2% of the current bank on each selection. This is not very volatile and means that you will capitalise on winning runs whilst soaking up losing runs pretty well. It should be slightly better than level stakes. Just a thought.

I dont follow that Nick… if your talking 2% of the bank as it now stands (say £500), thats only 50 bets at a tenner and thats the same as level stakes with a 50pt bank. I think you may be right if you increase this bank at pre arranged stages, ie after every £100 won, so your stake would increase in £2 stages…. What I hope your not suggesting is a variable 2% which moves after every bet, this is a big no no as far as I’m concerned. That way of betting is just plain daft… IMHO… and I’m not intent on being lippy mate, just looking at it from a sensible approach. I cannot see any sense whatsoever in reducing stakes after losers cos if you had 5 losers and then a 5/1 winner, on levels you would break even but on a reducing 2% of your bank, you’d lose….. I’ll start another thread on staking, lets see if we get any takers……
