AP stating race wasn’t run to suit , he pulled a bit hard but not the greatest ride ever but the winner dug in when needed
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
November 15, 2020 at 14:21 #1510802Ruby Walsh making too many excuses for Saint Roi.
November 15, 2020 at 14:23 #1510803It wasnt run to suit Abra either. Slowly run on Heavy ground.
November 15, 2020 at 14:28 #1510805It was a race that couldn’t be any more different to the champion hurdle
Certainly won’t be giving up on saint roi
November 15, 2020 at 14:28 #1510806Pity old Supasundae not quick enough to take them along then got in the way. Well done Aba for getting there and HDLG and any other backers.
November 15, 2020 at 14:32 #1510807That’s true FF but I’ve learned today the Abra will gut it out when needed , between the 2 I’d much rather have him , there,s a difference between winning a coral cup and giving Shiskin a race
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
November 15, 2020 at 14:56 #1510818Id be completely the opposite tbh
Abracadabras had the perfect run through was much less keen and still only won by a very small margin
Saint Roi pulled the jockeys arms out and got shuffled back to last turning for home in a slowly run race
In another stride or two hed have won
Saint roi has had much fewer runs is a year younger and is imo open to more improvement going forward
But its a game of opinions, and the last few days my picks have been worse than useless so might be best to ignore me hahaha
On that form they won’t even beat honeysuckle in the irish champion let alone epatante at Cheltenham
Let’s hope we see a rematch with a more honest pace, I wonder if mullins will consider running another horse to force the pace for saint roi next time
November 15, 2020 at 14:59 #1510819Jack Kennedy said he got there too soon and on the run in his horse pricked his ears and had a look around.
November 15, 2020 at 15:01 #1510822Champ hurdle is looking like a really good race this year
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
November 15, 2020 at 15:14 #1510831I don’t think we learned anything at all from the race regarding the Champion Hurdle. Abacadabras got there too soon and was idling. We already know he wants better ground. Saint Roi didn’t settle, didn’t jump well and was boxed in when it mattered.
Suppose we learned Jason The Militant is a genuine contender too.
November 15, 2020 at 15:15 #1510832Good for Epatante HDLG
November 15, 2020 at 17:57 #1510864I am not convinced by all these excuses for Saint Roi. To my mind, he was beaten fair and square by a horse who finished runner up in a well above average Supreme and which seriously idled on the run in today.
There is a world of difference between bolting up in a handicap when thrown in and then taking on high class graded horses.
November 15, 2020 at 18:04 #1510865While Epante is worthy favourite I don’t see her as a cert …still want to see Goshen
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
November 15, 2020 at 20:08 #1510886Cork don’t mean for this to sound rude, but surely you can see why people think Saint Roi was unlucky no?
World of a difference between a handicap and G1 race, yet he’s finished in a line for one with the trouble he met?
Hailing from a yard who knows a half decent 2miler as well.
I was very happy with that from Saint Roi today, they went no pace, badly position etc. He shows he’s up to the level.
Fast run championship race will be right up his street.Twitter: Jackh1092
Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!November 15, 2020 at 20:38 #1510891No, I really do not believe he was unlucky. And he only got so close to the winner because he idled.
It is a game of opinions and I will be very happy to be proven wrong. But I doubt he will be good enough to give Epatante weight and a beating.
November 15, 2020 at 21:40 #1510898Jack he wasn’t unlucky , it wasn’t a great ride and he didn’t pick up as well as the winner , out of the 2 I’d say Abra is the better horse , he dug in today when he needed to , it was a bloody good supreme last year
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
November 15, 2020 at 21:52 #1510899If you look at the video from 3 minutes 30 onwards, you will see Saint Roi went from 3rd to last when the taps were starting to turn. Just didn’t have the tactical speed to hold his position. And it’s not like they were going a mad pace either. He ran on again at the end once Abacadabras idled. Some people saying he was unlucky, but the horse got shuffled back and into a bit of a pocket on the inside coz he wasn’t good enough to hold his position.
