Absolutely delighted to hear that Monets Garden has returned to Greystoke this morning as his recovery continues.
Nicky Richards said that "their lucky charm was back home again".
How apt that Premier Sagas wins for his owner at Kelso this afternoon as I cannot think of a more deserving owner than Mr Wesley Yates. Hats off to you sir !
Lets hope that the old boy goes on to recover fully and enjoy his retirementFebruary 17, 2011 at 18:41 #341053Great news – hope he continues to recover…
February 17, 2011 at 19:34 #341069Some good news after a rather depressing weekend, and I’m pleased for Nicky Richards and all in the yard after the loss of Money Trix
February 17, 2011 at 22:43 #341105Fantastic news and a BIG well done to ALL concerned! May Monet’s Garden enjoy many more happy years – he so deserves to!
February 18, 2011 at 17:02 #341179Absolutely brilliant news, just what we needed to hear! Happy retirement Monet’s, hope to see you leading the Old Roan Chase pre parade.

its fantastic news, and now may he have a long and happy well deserved retirementvf
February 19, 2011 at 22:29 #341376Sensibly guarded cheer from Mr Richards when interviewed on RUK this afternoon, in which he advised that the high shoe will need to remain on Monet’s Garden’s affected foot for a while longer yet.
It also sounds like one of the biggest battles in the interim will be reminding the grey that he is 13 rather than six, and keeping him from over-exerting himself with potentially damaging consequences.
That aside, though, the news is all very, very good indeed. Soon may he heal, long may he prosper.

February 19, 2011 at 23:24 #341382Yes; he’s won the battle but not the war, as yet. However, he’s got the love and support of so many people behind him that, for once in my life I’m going to be optimistic. I’m just so glad that he’s back home, because he always hated being away from home, didn’t he. Hoping to see him parade somewhere when he’s better, even though I shall, no doubt, cry my eyes out when it happens.
February 20, 2011 at 14:52 #341452Plea to the Aintree Executive, how about renaming the Old Roan as the "Monet’s Garden Chase"?
Wish the horse well as he continues his recovery. Echo all the sentiments already expressed on this thread.
February 20, 2011 at 16:09 #341470Not often that the collected wishes of all come true – so happy for all concerned that this time it did.
Fingers crossed he continues to progress and can have a very long retirement, he will be spoiled for sure.
Must say well done again to his owner for never giving up hope.
February 22, 2011 at 13:28 #341709According to Mr Wesley Yates, Monet’s Garden is pleased to be back home with his pals. He has lots of energy and they are keeping an eye on him to make sure he doesn’t injure himself. The first thing he did on his return was to roll and squeal.
He is being monitored and is doing hand held exercise now.
The old boy used to hate staying away from home during his career, so I bet he feels better already just being in familiar surroundings.
This all sounds positive so lets hope that he is now over the worst. A really heartwarming story in my viewMay 18, 2011 at 10:23 #355915I have been in contact with the stable again today and thought that I should provide his wellwishers an update.
He is continuing to make steady progress and is due a scan at the end of the month. They are hoping then to be able to turn him out in a small field. Seems like the old boy still hasn’t realised his age and what he’s been through.
God bless him !!May 19, 2011 at 13:23 #356103Good news, up to a point, as long as he eventually improves to the stage where he can gallop full pelt round a field. Please keep giving us updates on his progress; I so hope that he’ll lead them out at Wetherby next season so I can go and see him.
