Global Applause has an entry in this and the Richmond but I’d expect him to take in the shorter race of the two. His defeat in the Norfolk came on softer going than he’d have wanted imo. On quicker going his form ties in well with Mehmas and 14/1 in this with Paddy Power looks too big. Ardad who ran no race at all last time is 9/2. I can only think perhaps Global Applause isn’t going to be running, does anyone know anything regard his targets…?

July 24, 2016 at 17:25 #1257178Moving in the right direction, best price 10’s now.
Still can’t find much info but came across a quote from Frankie saying the going did him no favours at Ascot.
I thought he traveled well that day and was probably the last off the bridle, Prince of Lir who won that day didn’t boost the form after being well beat today in France.
The Last Lion is currently 7/2 fav for the Molecombe and was 2nd in the Norfolk but not exactly fancied that day going off at 20/1. Global Applause was fav and if the going was a genuine excuse which I believe it is as I didn’t like GA that day on account of the going then he could well be good odds here at 10’s.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
July 24, 2016 at 20:43 #1257195My sentiments exactly although its bloody typical there could be a fair bit of rain about on Wednesday. Hopefully its just a few sharp showers but who knows the way this year has gone.
The going was definitely a genuine excuse last time Nath and he actually did well enough to finish only 2 and a bit lengths behind. The price is too good to avoid right now so I’m happy to bung a sum on that and hope that the horse is fit and well and that the rain has a minimal effect.
I predict he’ll be best price 7/2 Tuesday evening if he is indeed still in the market.
July 25, 2016 at 09:49 #1257437Think the more exposed horses like Global Applause and The Last Lion can be respected but are to some extent exposed and are hardly unbeatable. There’s not much juice in the price.
Some interesting declarations amongst the less exposed horses. Final reckoning is interesting if he runs. Related to a useful horse in Italy and being by Dark Angel could improve for the better ground. Nayyar is another one I think can run well.
If they both run will probably double dutch them.
July 25, 2016 at 12:49 #1257444I wouldn’t say Global Applause is overly exposed though having had just the four runs. His two wins coming in similar conditions to these at 5f on good ground in which he showed very good form. I agree something like Nayyar could win but has only won a maiden so still has it to do although he won well enough. Final Reckoning is not in the line up now. I’m happy with the 14/1 each way I think in comparison with The Last Lion it was a very good price and he’s been declared to run now with Frankie on board drawn in stall one so at least I’ll get a run for my money by the looks of things unless anything happens between now and then and believe he has a good a chance as any.

July 25, 2016 at 21:37 #1257506Global Applause has form with Mehmas that looks solid.
If we excuse his last effort on account of the ground he clearly has a good chance.
Yalta looked good early doors but has a pair of eights to forgive, so I’ll leave him.
Sportsmanship took three goes to get off the mark and the form of his win looks nothing special. This is much tougher and his RPR leaves him 20 lbs short of The Last Lion’s mark with the same assessor. How showed against Fair Eva that even breeding and the top trainer cannot always close a gap of that size and if he were trained by Joe Bloggs he would be 25/1 here.
Nayyar is 1 from 1 but I can’t say I have found it profitable following Charlie Hills 1st time 2yo winners next time out. While you can argue the case for experience vs being less exposed, the Hills colt has a lot harder task against decent and relatively toughened rivals, with 24 lbs to find with the top rated horse in the race on RPR figures. That’s gping to be tough to do in a race at 5F, where the more savvy horses can have the advantage of alacrity and experience in their job at a distance where greenness and hesitation can make life so much tougher.
I think it’s between The Last Lion and Global Applause here. They are pretty close in the ratings and it’s amazing to think that The Last Lion was 20/1 and Global Applause 3/1 Fav the last time they locked horns.
For me Global Applause making the running and being able to repel Mehmas at Sandown is probably the best looking piece of form and on decent ground I think he may be suited by Goodwood and can hold off The Last Lion for the forecast here.
Ed Dunlop could do with hitting a few more winners at the moment but at 5/1 I prefer his Global Applause in this.
Good luck with the early shout Nathan.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Bloody good prediction about the Tuesday night price Chivers 10/3 best price now.
Showers forecast tonight could see him move back out but if it’s only very light he’ll end up favGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
July 27, 2016 at 00:26 #1257706Seldom come across as many horses I’ve rated as either FR (front runner) RP (races prominently) or TP (tracks pace). All bar two of the ten getting those comments in my workings out, Nayyar and Kyllang Rock. However, doubt the former has the pace for Goodwood’s 5f anyway, latter doesn’t look good enough. Front runners could easily go too fast too early.
Too difficult for me to find a bet pre-race. Might look in-running on horses coming from further back in the field.
Value Is EverythingJuly 27, 2016 at 15:55 #1257820i actually thought Dettori was too confident on GA two furlongs out, the horse just did not pick up, nothing in the locker when push came to shove…the horse is better than that and has been beaten by The Last Lion again.

As soon as you give up on them, they’ll hose up :(
July 27, 2016 at 16:04 #1257825MJ must have started using that special feed with Yalta again this week

I backed Yalta the last twice too Joe. Didn’t have a bet in the race today.
Can’t win them all.Value Is EverythingJuly 27, 2016 at 16:18 #1257828Thanks for putting the early prices up for Global Applause Nathan, I was happy with putting him on each way at 10/1. Got a bit edgy in the last 100 yards mind.
July 27, 2016 at 21:23 #1257867The winner was impressive today.
Yeah very happy with the place money Chivers, thought he was going to be 4th for more than a few moments.
I think that’s about his limit now, had his ideal distance and going, possibly a early maturing type or am I being a bit harsh?.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
July 30, 2016 at 00:09 #1258293Final reckoning came good for me today in the nursery.
The fact they took him out of the Molecomb and put him in this was a big pointer in itself. This was a big success for my new approach which is to look at the pedigrees much more which I think is vital for two year old races.
I noticed he was related to a very useful horse in Italy and by a good sire himself Final Reckoning was always going to be useful.
