Does anyone know if Mighty Man has been retired or is he set to return at some point this forthcoming season?
September 20, 2008 at 18:18 #181746I think he has been retired. His was a very serious injury and I wouldn’t imagine that he could return, although he’s in the betting for the World Hurdle on Betfair.
September 20, 2008 at 19:07 #181755I’m sure he was retired.
Shame really, as i would have loved to have seen him race more.
Really good horse i think.

September 21, 2008 at 11:45 #181820I thought I read that his recovery had gone very well and that they hope to get him back this season.

Hope so Paul.
I think he would have been the top stayer if i am honest, and if he hadn’t have sustained his tendon injury, then i think he would have been challenging Inglis Drever all the way.

Mighty Man had every chance to prove himself top stayer before his injury and he won’t be improving even if he does come back. He was absolutely top notch at Aintree but simply not quite good enough at Prestbury Park.
September 22, 2008 at 16:50 #181962In the two Aintree races he ran close to the pace. Won well.
At Cheltenham he was always held up. Two defeats.
It may be a coincidence but I think not. Though whether he would ever have beaten a top form Inglis Drever I do not know. He does have a higher Timeform rating than the Wylie battler.
After a serious injury I doubt if Mighty Man will ever be anywhere near as good now.
