    Entries out……..

    https://www.racingpost.com/racecards/84/uttoxeter/2021-03-20/777673

    https://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing/ante-post-racing/national-hunt/midlands-grand-national/winner

    A few jumping out….

Coo Star Sivola – Not a horse who’s grabbed me too much in the past, but interesting that the former Ultima winner didn’t get a Cheltenham entry this year. Looks a fair price on his last outing 16’s

Ramses De Teille – Been waiting him out all season, and very much like Coo Star, very surprised he didn’t get an entry in The Ultima. This looks a realistic target, and he’s proper shortlist material. 16’s

Sam Brown – Been a fan of this horse since his early days. Just a little concerned at his lack of outings this year. He’s had his ground, so I’m assuming there’s been some hiccups. Likely to get his conditions here, and this is well within his reach. I’d imagine he’d be vying for favouritism if he went here, so the price is very appealing, but fraught with danger considering his “no shows” this season.

Screaming Colours – Ran a sound race last week at Punchestown, and this looks ideal. Not too many runs for a 10yo, so possible improvement to come. Main concern for me would be whether or not he’d travel, but Irish raiders have enjoyed success in this in the past. Very interesting if he did come here. 14’s

Seemorelights – Just a shade disappointing over fences so far, but that’s maybe a bit harsh. He’s certainly got the scope for more improvement, and I think he’d relish this trip. He’s also one I’m considering for Ayr, but with Seeyouatmidnight possibly the stables priority there, I can see this as a realistic target. Runs at Newcastle today, and hoping for an encouraging run. 25’s

Time To Get Up – Huge fancy of mine for The Kim Muir, and got everything crossed he doesn’t come here instead. Big big player if he does. 14’s

Truckin Away – Not the flashiest, but quite possible we’ve not seen the best of him, and really difficult to be too negative on this seasons runs. Can see this being the target for him. 16’s

Ramses De Teille is main fancy, but I’d be hopeful that the 16’s will hold, so I’ll wait. A big run from Seemorelights today could put him in the picture, so that seems a good reason to have an early bet, albeit a small one at this stage.

Coo star sivila is becoming nicely handicapped , he,s been nursed through the season and if this is his goal then hopefully the ground won’t be to bad …this can be a horror to watch on heavy ground

Well that’s Seemorelights quickly cashed out. Small bet or not, no point keeping it. If he stands his ground, I should be able to match that again.

Yeah HDLG, got to have a chance, in fact I’d have him up there with Ramses right now. That was probably an omen for me today to wait until later with this, but I can see Coo getting bet, so I’ll watch the market.

I haven’t even half looked at the race, but i’ve seen it mentioned by some that Highland Hunter looks like he could go off half the price? Any thoughts VTC?

Worry with Screaming Colours has to be the Irish National?

Jack, apologies, hadn’t even clocked your reply.

Yeah, Highland Hunter definitely has the look of one who’s going to be well punted. This has the look of a definite target as well.

Really like Screaming Colours, but certainly couldn’t bet him just now.

Screaming Colours jocked up, with Connor Orr booked again. Makes that 12’s very appealing, as I think he could be popular.

Not surprisingly, Time To Get Up heads the market, but he’s too short for me now, for all I really like him, and I’m hoping Fairyhouse is the plan.

Definitely cut this down a bit, and this is the current shortlist….

    Coo Star Sivola 14’s
    Ramses De Teille 16’s
    Screaming Colours 12’s

I have 12 pounds covering all bar a handful of these, so many in with a chance on recent form.

    Prime Venture 166 (25/1)
    Final Nudge 166 (25/1)
    Seaston Spirit 165 (40/1)

    Highland Hunter 160
    Captain Drake 160
    Screaming Colours 159
    Crossley Tender 159

Happy to take the top three against the field at long odds, plus the strong Irish form for Screaming Colours 12/1 as Punchestown race looks rock solid. I suspect Irish marks are about 7lbs better than UK marks judged on Cheltenham showing which would make that one joint top.
Slight doubt about Prime Venture as he’s been off sicne the Welsh National and a race in the last 6 weeks in a help, but he has solid staying form. Final Nudge had a nice pipe opener and seems a better horse since his wind surgery. Seaston Spirt ran no sort of race last time, but was progressive before that and looks ideally suited to this off bottom weight.

The fact they’ve missed Cheltenham for this screams coo star sivola for me

Any thoughts on what the ground might be? I’d be tempted to take a flyer with Callet Mad At 33s. We never really got to find out if he’s the horse of 2 years ago when he unshipped halfway through the Beecher. There’s no obvious reason to believe he isn’t, and he brings proper staying chase form to the table.

Still like the original shortlist of….

    Coo Star Sivola
    Ramses De Teille
    Screaming Colours

while Time To Get Up is too short, for all I think he could be very, very good. I thought he’d be perfect for Fairyhouse, but surely not after this.

I’ll take two from the shortlist, as I’ll also be having a sentimental selection here.

Took the 12’s for Screaming Colours, while looks like I’ll be able to get any price I like for Ramses.

    Screaming Colours 12’s

I was keen on Calett Mad for the Eider, but he didn’t go, so I’m happy to take a chance on him here instead.

The Two Amigos and Achille don’t have much hiding space with their marks, but can’t ignore them at very backable prices.

Golan Fortune is one that interests me too, but I was expecting a little better than 10/1.

Won’t/can’t back all of them, so I’ll see what we look like in the morning.

Ive played coo star sivola again but this favourite is being backed like defeat isn’t an option , Jesus synchronised went off much bigger both times he ran in this !! , at the other end of the market acting lass has ran 2 horrors this year but wind was done before prev run and now the head gear is on , won off 142 but second off 147 now on 145 …she,ll prob run another horror but at 66-1 I can see her plugging on when plenty have chucked it in , yard seems in a better place to , 66-1 is huge

I had this one down on my tracker some time back, I’d stuck in my notes

09/01/21 Chepstow. Held in 3rd when knuckled on landing at the last. Was running on and looks an out and out stout stayer. Had some decent horses behind him, should win a good staying race.

    Highland Hunter 14/1 Bet365

In the end I settled for…

The Two Amigos 16/1 four places
Achille 20/1 four places, 18/1 seven places
Calett Mad 50/1 four places, 40/1 seven places

I’ve taken 12-1 for Highland Hunter here as my main selection, but I couldn’t resist Coo Star Sivola at 18-1, especially with 7pls on offer here.

I’ve kept Highland Hunter as a win only bet.

I’ll have a go with Tommy Rapper ew for an interest. They could’ve gone for the Pertemps and didn’t so must have thought he had some sort of chance here.
