A couple of good class races today as the season hots up. There could be a few live chances for World Cup night among the runners this evening. Zanzamar, Kingsfort, Here To Win, River Jetez and Simon De Monfort all look to have some claims to making the grade. Interesting jockey booking for SDM with Fallon engaged.
I’ve had a little e/w Solid Choice in the first to get things going.
Any thoughts etc just post away. I’ll be here for the whole meeting to discuss with those interested.

Thank your mother for the rabbits ……..

I’ll bypass the next and have some lunch.

The poor run for Dandy in Dubai continued there with Mister Manannan messing up the start from a wide draw before going to a clear lead ( hit 1.6 for £1200 ) after late support 12 – 8 at Betfair.
I’m playing a watching game with Zanzamar in the next with the stable expecting him to hit his best form when stepped up in trip. Should be doing his best work late. Stablemate Abstrato may be the better bet today much like the stable second string from Australia in the Trial last week.

Zanzamar’s form is surely in a different league to the majority of these?

I agree. The stable is very reserved about his chances at this trip though.

Good win there. He’ll be pretty short when stepped up in trip now. Was rolling about a bit when tired and should improve plenty for the run.

Just a pity that Lingfield was deemed to be the more important race, so I didn’t get to see it

I think SDM is a top quality horse and will win if o.k after a layoff.

Here To Win …. on the nose. Gr1 miler without Kingsfort’s obvious shortcommings.

An awful ride by Soumillon; he wants to try being cocky AFTER he’s won the race.

The bird flew that time. Not Soumillon’s best effort but I can forgive him. He’s been right too many times for me in the past. Pretty much rode to beat the fave which he did ……. shame about the other one. 1.25 in running for £750 and Kingsfort easy enough to take on around 2.4 in the run. No damage, but not much joy either.

Star Empire fans will be holding their breath in the next. He’s usually slowly away and a hold up horse so get ready for another Soumillon special.

Forgot to add – Gallahad looks an interesting runner for a top class trainer/rider combo. I’ve had a little bet e/w.

Star Empire certainly living up to his label of "nut job". Sweating up badly and showing plenty of "character" on the way to the gates.

And down goes that 6/4 pop.

In all fairness, when they weighed anchor early, the hold up horses out the back had little or no hope.

Not Mr Soumillon’s night. Butchered that one at 5/4.

The last creates a lot of interest. Azmeel sets the standard and certainly should be thereabouts. Goes well fresh too. Simon De Monfort looked very promising last season before disappearing into the Godolphin abyss. Could be a lot more to come there. Plenty will be deathriding the ex Stoute thief Jedi who managed to snag a new owner for £215K at the end of season sales. I guess they had to beat off the jumps buyers there. Another one returning from the Black Hole of Dubai is worth watching – Zeitoper. Looked to have his share of ability before going astray for the last 459 days.
E/W Azmeel for me.
