Enjoy dinner with your daughter Andre :good: and glad to hear that the Craft Shows are going well and the weather is being kind to you

Here in the South East we have dodged the storm but it hasn’t stopped raining.

My 3 horses still to run tonight but I have had an amazing day in the Tote 10 To Follow .. l watched all the Jumps races 10 minutes behind so that I knew the result and that they were all ok..I enjoyed it better that way. 🤣😂 Venetia Williams is the Queen of the soggy bottom 🤪.. 3 winners in 45 minutes and her Royal Pagauille beat my Grey Dawning in the Bonus Race but he’ll be back.
Wasn’t it lovely to see dear old Bristol de Mai parading at Haydock today.

I’ve missed a lot of the golf Darren but I’ve stuck on both Daniel Berger
and McKenzie Hughes, both 8/1, in the last round of the RSM Classic.

Well done to the Dazzler for that big 125/1 winner on the golf. You certainly come up trumps year after year with your tennis bets too.

Time flies and it’s the 1st of December now. This time last year I was in the middle of planning my first exhibition aptly titled “The Tree And The Three Rivers” . I didn’t know then what it would lead to but a year which has come round quickly really is an incredibly long old time!
I hope everyone on this thread are doing alright. I’m active again on the tree 🌲 and putting in a few lengthy posts there.
However it’s the poetry which dominates my horizons at the moment and I’m pleased to say I’m edging closer to my first book. I always thought it would a novel a murder mystery and boy have I got plenty of material for one of those from this year. The novel will come as I’d had the concept in my mind for a long time and met a very good crime novelist three years ago at a craft fair deep along the heritage coast of Suffolk and she’d given me sone very good advice which I’ve always kept in mind.
But the poems have come to the fore and on Thursday last week I went to see a publisher / Printer along with my Illustrator. I know the frontman and it was a relaxed meeting and the plan is to go to print in the spring with a paperback book, an anthology of my work since the summer.
It’s all very exciting with everything occurring in house we are clear of the industry with no middleman to stick an oar in. It’s been a good week therefore and while I’ve been under the weather I have managed to pen a satirical poem last week probably brought about by my health and the need for water….

Live poetry 0545 to 0615 hours
Friday November 29th 2024. Dedicated to my beautiful friend Karen with grateful thanks and appreciation.
    Title.
    TRY DRINKING WATER,
    LIKE YOU OUGHTA
    BUT DONT DRINK DRINKING WATER……,,!

I’m drinking water freely now and it’s really quite exquisite.
Why wait until unwell until you pay this stuff a visit?
Its free if you tap it
But also cheap in a bottle.
If you neck Guinness so often, cap it
Try this stuff instead, but at full throttle .

People on their last legs cry out for a taste.
It’s Adams ale for God’s sake,
don’t let it go to waste.

Once you’ve got the taste for this stuff
    You’ll leave the booze behind.
    Drinking waters back in fashion.
    I’ve come over all refined.

It doesn’t just feed the garden,
You store it in all of your butts.
If you’ve not considered drinking it up till now,
I assure you,you must be nuts!
Yes consuming waters back in fashion now
Its so good for your body.
People seek it with such a passion now.
You’ll seem different, Sauve and sophisticated extra special and how !!
And not at all an Oddy.

The image chappies know their ways
And a piece of this huge cake they need
A marketing campaign drop a subliminal hint
And in a matter of days
    from their hands they’ll feed.
    Put it in sexy bottles
And give the public a need
This new liquid is our ultimate dream
Be seen with it people or your not on the team
You see we are not quite as gullible as you all seem.
We know we’ll extract from you a fiver
If we pitch it as your dream.
Now rush out and buy our product at its introductory price
The stuff in taps is cheap and nasty
    And really not as nice.
And really if you think of it you’ve nothing left to lose
You’ll not realise you’re paying for water at just the same price as your booze!

I needed a bit of a laugh this morning Sam and I certainly got it
from your water poem. You have the ability to take something ordinary,
something from every day life, and finding a way of creating it in a
way we just miss. Why would we talk or create a poem about something
as common and every day use as water. Well now we know. Quite
    brillient my friend.

I’ve got another chest infection, maybe water is the answer, who knows,
except a man called Sam. It’s a delight as always to see some of your
work Sam and I’ve always thought there must be a book, on anything
from water to Murder. I’ll be standing in line for your when your book
hits the streets Sam, I’ve no idea what to expect, but quality is assured :good:

    Your good friend Graham

Hello Graham I’m sorry to hear you are unwell mate. Chest infections are quite debilitating at times and I’ve had a few myself this year. I’m very lucky health wise and I’m still waltzing about like it’s midsummer going about my business.
I was talking to a Russian lady this evening at her coffee shop collecting Organic waste and of course the subject of poetry came up it was an interesting conversation. Yesterday my brother asked if I would consider writing about the MPs in the Houses of Parliament and what a useless lot they were. I said simply, “Yes they may well be but I’m not doing political poetry right now”. I guess there are all types of poet and I suggested he try some himself if that were his choice of expression. The Russian lady listened to The Perfect Rose”🌹 There was plenty lost in translation but her conclusion was “ The English don’t write about serious things it’s all tra La La!”
“Too bloody right!”I said that’s to a degree what I do but don’t dismiss all poetry as that nor all of mine. But I do like satire.”
She then read out aloud a poem by Bloc ( in Russian) she then explained it which I was grateful for.

    Great poem Sam… :good:

I’m off to look for the Lost Valley of the Godolphin Fantasy Competition… even Indiana Jones himself would have trouble unearthing that one

Sending good wishes to all..take care :rose: Jac x

I don’t know what they are playing at Jac. Upcoming races ……….
“Races to be announced soon” ??? What’s the point of starting the competition
when you’re not ready for it

I think we need Big G to lead us into Godolphin HQ on a mission. He’d make the perfect Hannabal. Gamble would have to be Murdoch. Nathan could be Face. I haven’t quite got his muscle but I’ve got his attitude & heart so that’s me in too as Mr T. We’d need special back up so that’s everyone on here improvising to get the job done ✅.
We’d locate their competition room Face (Nathan) would use his guile and of course, his charms to open the doors none of us can open. The rooms not fit for purpose so we’d blow it up and rig Goldolphin’s mainframe database directly onto TRF so all of their horses were eligible and our top competitions forumites would run the show instead and Big G as always would sit back pretending to smoke a Havana cigar and say “ I love it when a plan comes together”! ♥️

Sorry to hear about your chest infection Graham! You just can’t seem to shake them. Hopefully you’ll be well enough to travel down south in a few weeks to see those grand-babies! Take Care of yourself!

    Great poem Sam!

As for the Godolphin comp…. well it’s a shambles (trying to be nice) – maybe members of TRF could stage a mutiny and take over running the darn thing – I mean, it can’t be that difficult can it?

It’s been bitterly cold hear, but at least we have only had a dusting of snow. Two more craft shows for the year (I can’t wait to be done).

Plenty of good NH hunt racing, with some exciting prospects to look for.

    Take Care Everyone!!

That’s a whole story told in a few lines Sam and I feel kinda cool
as BigG Hannabal and no matter what way we go about it Sam will
write a perfect ending with us avoiding death by the skin of our
teeth and kicking Godolphin into the real world. I’m definitely in :good:

Good to hear from you across the pond Andre. Delighted you like the poem.
I see you’ve got the same President in as the last time I watched telly!
So he never ended up inside for insurrection gets indicted is a convicted felon confounds his critics and enemies and now has his finger back on the nuclear button. While old Joe has just pardoned his own son going back on his word. All that stuff is better than fiction. Place could descend into chaos anytime in an international emergency.
And, I guess it must be getting cold there!

Well writing to Andre and writing about politics reminds I never do politics or religion, but I do observe. I was just texting a friend to find out how they were doing and then I remembered and thought how about a message of love to a special friend too?
It was coming up to six am and I’ve just completed it now.

    I miss my good friend.
I love seeing you and I’ve written you a hundred times a hundred and fifty thousand words.
I’m hoping they get through to you and then I will be heard.
I sent them in their virtual envelopes and even put them in a bottle. I’ve pushed them out in the roughest of seas and watched them float away
and I’m sure that one will get through to you
I’m just waiting for that day

I hope you read above and between the lines and winkle out each meaning.
Like you, I like a challenge and unraveled my lines’ revealing.
You can even read them upside down if you are that way inclined.
It might just leave you dizzy though or might just clear your mind.
Some of it’ll make sense and some of it simply won’t.
But always take a closer look. It’ll make little sense at all, that’s only if you don’t.

You know the things I write about the good things and the bad the things that make me laugh but also them things that leave me sad.
sometimes I’ll write some nutty things which reaffirms that I’m quite mad.
But above all I’ll be positive and write of things of love ❤️.
I know that it conquers everything even the worst of all bad stuff.
    X

Hope everyone is OK and keeping safe and warm. Think we have more strong winds coming our way this weekend and hope it doesn’t cause all the havoc and damage to people’s property that it did last time and that everyone in the affected areas keep safe and well. Also hoping that the racing does not become a victim of Storm Darragh.

Sam you have to enter Nathan’s TRF poem of the year if he does it again .very imaginative and endearing words..

Darren and Graham well done with your golfing bets ..you two are both wizzes at finding those big price golfers. Also hope you enjoyed Wednesday evening at Kempton Darren and managed to spot a few winners in the paddock. :rose:

Best of luck this weekend with the competitions whatever the weather brings our way and bring all horses and jockeys back safely.

Take care, keep safe and well and best of luck. Jac 🌟💫🐎 x

I hope she gets the letter Sam, it surely would bring her defences down. You
are a wizard with words my friend :good:

Thanks for your concern Andre, Sam and Jac. I’ve finished my prescribed
amount of antibiotics but things aint cookin, in my kitchen :-(

It’s not been the best of weeks for me and Jac my apologies I didn’t get
my Tote 10 to follow report. It sounds too easy to say my computer ate
my homework, but it’s not far from the truth. I was down to number 6
and thought I’d finish it of in bed. I lasted about a minute I reckon
and woke with my PC sitting on my chest. For all I know I may have wiped
it myself. I had copied but nothing pastes. Anyway, you are still top
of the heap Jac, keep it up there :yahoo: I recall Nathan is back on
    the podium too :good:

I’ll get my competion horses on and it’s a Horlicks for me, my chair reclined
up and Marjorie sticks a tartan rug over me. liklihood is I’ll fall asleep,
so I’m getting them on now just in case.

Keep well everyone, it’s freezing cold outside and the wind will be up.
    Batten down the hatches :rose:
