Sadly Salamanca faded quickly but I did suddenly realise that Ambiente Friendly had run 4th to Jayarebe at the Craven Meeting where recent winner Caviar Heights ran 3rd so I quickly slapped a few pounds on him.
Pogo my last horse to run is now 8 years old but hope he proves he’s still got it…Best of luck Graham we’re getting there..😂😂🤣
Old Ropey Guest got himself a place at 33/1, what a great old soldier he is.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 11, 2024 at 15:33 #1693924Hopefully I can get ahead with Stenton Glider in the 3.35
3.35 Lingfield Stenton Glider (upped from 9/1 to 10/1 with Paddy Power)
May 11, 2024 at 15:41 #1693927I backed Mina Rashid but didn’t watch the race properly. I believe he was over 200/1 in running and I’ve been having a few in running bets recently. It said in the write up that he was bred to stay.
May 11, 2024 at 15:42 #1693928Darn it, I thought I had that in the bag in the final furlong
until Great Generation came with a late run to nab Stenton Glider
May 11, 2024 at 15:47 #1693930No luck for me today my bets for Sunday
Power Under Me 9/4 Leopardstown 3.00
Louise Proctor 5/1
Ramadan 13/2
War Chimes 4/1
Makarova 3/1My bets in the group races in Longchamp
May 11, 2024 at 15:50 #1693931I didn’t keep a check on the running odds on Mina Rashid Moe, I was trying to
see how she could win it from where she was, but she did bless her
May 16, 2024 at 14:46 #1694467One of my favourites, Northern Express who nearly won this last year,
went down by a nse and 1/4L. His next time out at York he won so it’s
his time of year. Only 1LB higher. I like him a lot
2.45 York Northern Express 9/1 Bet365 (they still haven’t started)
May 16, 2024 at 16:20 #1694512Almost got there Graham
..nice EW pick.
I only had a fiver on Caernarfon today and luckily just watched Arecibo in the first.
Have had a little break from the racing this week, been such sad week for losing horses.
I’m not even sure to get to Newmarket on Saturday as picked up an eye infection and the drops make your eyes blurry so can’t drive..Hoping against hope it clears soon so that I can go as was hoping to meet up with Sporting Sam and his partner there for a coffee and chat, but not looking good at present..What a year it has been one thing after another.
Hope you and Marjorie are doing fine..
Jac
xWill do the Godolphin scoreboards after The Derby Meeting to see how we are all getting on…
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 16, 2024 at 21:50 #1694544I couldn’t have asked for any more from Northern Express. I thought he was
going to go past the winner with a furlong to go, but he was one tough horse
and he deserved to win. A great finish nonetheless.I hope your eye problem clears up in time Jac for you to make it to
Newmarket and meet up with Sam, I think he would be such an interesting
guy to chat with. You are so right, this last year is only missing a plague of locusts.
I’ve been having a lot of problems with my left knee, my GP arranged
an X-Ray and basically, it’s knackered. Fortunately my other knee was
fixed up by a Professor who is brilliant. I’ve got an appointment
to see him on Monday coming. So that’s another to add to our ailments.
At least if I’m laid up after an OP I can still watch the racing. There’s
always (well sometimes) a silver lining
May 16, 2024 at 23:06 #1694557Hope that left knee of yours gets the magic touch from the Professor who sorted out your right knee Graham. Best of luck for Monday.

I’m hoping to get some time to watch York tomorrow afternoon. I haven’t really got into my flat racing this year with all that has gone on it has left me feeling a bit anxious about everyone that I care for getting ill, even when I was considering watching a few races on TV I got a phone call from my 7 year old
granddaughter Emily’s school saying she had been sick and had a temperature could I go and pick her up. We ended up snuggled up on the setee watching Paw Patrol with a bottle of Calpol until her dad, our son Chris, got home from work.
I’ll get a good look at the Newmarket card tomorrow and there’s one or two I fancy at York.
Good.luck if you have a bet tomorrow, I need things to start turning around as that bar has been hit so many times it’s on critical..Definitely time to start turning it around.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 17, 2024 at 10:34 #1694571Hello to everyone – I hope that most of you are all well and safe.
I can see from your recent posts that both BigG and Triptych are still
having health problems. Really sorry to hear that your problems are getting
worse instead of better. On the Godolphin front there is not at this time a Bonus Race to help us gain
some more points.
Mixed news from my list of 10 but will update my total after the weekend.
Devoted Queen runs today at York. The details are now on the tote website for the new tote ten to follow competition
and you should be able to start making you entries from 11-00am on Monday May 20th 2024.I quick glance does not seem to show any major changes to the rules but the prize money
will depend on the number of entries. The Free competition does appear to be less generous
than in the past. But this is probably not going to be of much concern to myself given
my present situation. None the less the interest gained from this competition is still an
important part of my racing involvement. My special lucky pin my be needed over the next week or so

All the best for now
May 17, 2024 at 10:44 #1694573Just finished my post and the Racing Post have this story on there web site.
https://www.racingpost.com/news/britain/leading-derby-contender-arabian-crown-ruled-out-of-epsom-due-to-a-setback-aDlFS4Y3wNJU/More bad news for Charlie Appleby and the Godolphin team.

Once again many thanks
May 17, 2024 at 12:59 #1694584What a year its been John especially for the 3yo horses that are not quite turning out to plan. In my opinion this has been the worst start to the flat season I’ve ever known and Ante Post backers, of which thankfully I am not one, will have been hit hard. Really feel for Charlie Appleby losing potential champion Hidden Law 💔 and now Arabian Crown out for the season with a setback, let’s hope Devoted Queen is a champion in the making this afternoon.

Will start to get a stable together for the Tote 10 To Follow and try to find a few dark horses. The problem is do you include City Of Troy or leave him out at your peril.? I think at this moment in time I have just 2 trusty horses and COT is not one of them
Best of luck John, I’m like you and play these comps just for fun and let’s hope we get lots of good quality racing this flat season which I don’t think we’ve seen much of here in the UK.
Keep well yourself and take care.
Many thanks for your good wishes…Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 17, 2024 at 13:52 #1694585Three for today…
Newmarket 3.23 – Spun To Gold 13/2 – EW
York 4.15 – Lead Artist – 7/4 – WIN
York 5.20 – PILGRIM ** NAP ** 11/2 – EW
Plus a small Trixie
This horse my NAP Pilgrim really caught my eye last time out at Newmarket and the market went crazy for him.
I can guarantee he is as fit as a flea, you could see every rib and I really hope he runs a big race today. He has the makings of a good horse
Lead Artist just touched off by Godolphins First Conquest last time out was the winner just past the post and expect him to gain his revenge today.
I have them both in the forecast again.

Best of luck and hope we can bash the bookies today..
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 17, 2024 at 18:32 #1694631Well Lead Artist did what he said on the packet and proved he was an unlucky loser at Newmarket
Pilgrim ran a much improved race in the 5.20 York finishing 3rd against the favourite.. happy with that.
Good luck in the compys tomorrow .. I won’t be at Newmarket (I’m so sorry Sam
) but let’s kick off with…1.30 Newmarket ‘ MOUNTAIN BREEZE
for the boys in Blue..

Stop The Press
Just went to Paddy’s to get the price…MOUNTAIN BREEZE – 2/5 Fav

Will just enjoy watching this one on my Paddy Power App..
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 18, 2024 at 03:51 #1694675Thanks John for looking out for Jac and myself. I could have done without the
knee thing, I’ve actually been carrying that problem for a couple of years,
but my recent fall was the final straw. Anyway, I’ve never heard of anyone
dying with a knackered knee. I hope you are keeping well, or better John
Nice one with Lead Artist Jac
and Pilgrim e/w
Paddy isn’t
taking any chances with Mountain Breeze, 2/5 !!!. I think he’ll win but there’s
got to be a giveaway e/w with Flaming Stone, 8/1 with Willie Hill, who’s by
Kingman who won 7 of his 8 races, only losing out to Night Of Thunder (who I
backed
) in the 2000 Guineas. He beat Night of Thunder in their other
2 encounters. I reckon that’s the f/c before the race has started. I’ll have
a touch there.I reckon Quinault must have a great chance at getting his season off to a
flyer. He won 7 out of 9 last year and has a good 5lb claimer in Luke Catton,
who won on him in a valuable Ascot 7f race. I’ve also got to have an e/w on
Saint Lawrence, winner of the Wokingham last year, he’s not done much since
and was there for a long way last time out before Holly Doyle didn’t throw
the kitchen sink at him when his chance had gone in the last furlong. Another
2LBS off might just do the trick and Holly sticks (no pun intended
)
by him.2.40 Newmarket Quinault 8/1 Bet365
2.40 Newmarket Saint Lawrence 25/1 e/w Paddy PowerFlying Honours only ran once as a 3 year old and finished lame
in the Dante. Off for nearly a year when ran, and obviously needed
the run, when Buick let him coast home in last saying he stopped
quickly. He’s back out 3 weeks later and bound to be better for
that run. 20/1 is too big.1.50 Newbury Flying Honours 20/1 e/w Bet365
Symbology has rightfully lowered he sights from the Group 1 Chevely
Park Stakes last time out. She won 1st time out last year and this
race is definitely more within her compass.2.25 Newbury Symbology 20/1 Paddy Power e/w
