James Sherwood should be removed from the B.B.C. following his comment that some lady’ looked like a war widow’ on the same day that 3 S.A.S. soldiers lost their lives in Afghanistan.

The same week that sargeant Sarah Bryant 26 years old lost her life also in Afghanistan.

This month 11 soldiers have died and 7 have been from the Parachute Regiment. Every one no doubt far, far better men than some pompous prat wandering around Royal Ascot giving his view as to whether or not some dress was the correct colour.

Corporal Sean Reeve from Patcham Brighton was a 28 year old reservist with the S.A.S.

Sean gained a degree in bio chemistry and held a masters degree. He had got all his mates to buy pens and pencils which he took out personally to children in Afghanistan. Sean had been a S.A.S. reservist for 10 years.

Incidentally Sean went to the same Brighton school as jockeys Ryan, Jamie, Hayley and Josh Moore.

Sherwood should have made a proper apology and not needed Claire Balding to attempt to justify his remarks.

He is welcome to come down to The Long Man of Wilmington pub in Patcham and repeat his remarks to Seans mates and his girlfriend.

What’s that got to do with the programme?

Are you concerned that these soldiers families were watching the racing just after they heard their relatives had died?

… and that the mention of "war widow" ruined their enjoyment of the programme?

    Behave yourself.

I must say that I find it very strange that he uses the term "war widow" as a put down, and that would surely have offended a lot of that generation, quite a lot of whom love racing and are still paying sherwoods wages through their TV licenses.

I think the BBC keep him there as an unnecessary "Nasty Nigel" type person, which IMO the show doesnt really need. I thought he was extremely insincere when Clare Balding was making his apology for him.

I can see where seagull is coming from as the BBC are the pioneers of the P.C. brigade and plenty of people in Politics and TV have lost their jobs or got in hot water over similar remarks or incidences.

Honestly, I think the families would be far angrier when they turned on the news and saw Gordon Brown and his stupid fekking grin…

He’s the one keeping the troops there to fight a futile war…

By stating on national television that a women as being dressed ‘as a war widow’ suggests to me that James Sherwood was clearly stating that she had no money as a result of her husband losing his life in a war.

Many war widows even today still lose their forces accomodation as little as 6 months after their partner had died.

I agree that Claire Balding did not come across as sincere with her words of apology. This is a women who earns some of her money covering events such as Trooping The Colours.

Why could James Sherwood not have made an apology.

The late Kenny Everret lost his job with the B.B.C. for jokingly suggesting a former Member Of Parliament bribed her way to passing an advanced driving test!

I do not want to get into any issues over the rights or wrongs of the current war except to say I have a relative who thankfully has survived one tour of duty in the current conflict and is due to return later this year.

    Oh, come on Seagull.
James Sherwood is just a hapless little tw*t who gets his rocks off by denigrating others to feed off any attention he can muster, and shouldn’t be taken any more seriously than Big Mac and his sexist rants..
The man is a total lightweight, and I doubt anyone outside a glossy magazine gives any credence to his utterings whatsoever.
