Min was visually very impressive, but Politologue bled from the nose and didn’t give his running. Waiting Patiently is not the horse he was last season. Hell’s Kitchen is not without his own problems, and God’s Own is an ageing force who doesn’t love soft ground. The fact Timeform have immediately given Min a rating of 181 – greater than anything they’ve given Altior, who has destroyed Min every time they have met – is astonishing.
April 5, 2019 at 16:31 #1416321Another example of how ridiculous the ratings that Waiting Patiently, cyrname and politilogue have. Added to the ridiculous rating of Clan Des Obeaux after one win. Based on today’s performance and previous examples of overrating the British handicapper will surely be giving min 180+ 😆, making Altior the third highest horse in training 😂😂
April 5, 2019 at 18:46 #1416336Was hoping that waiting patiently would step forward from the ascot chase where he finished in front of politologue but that clearly never happened
As someone who backed min without altior at cheltenham at 2/1 have to say I’m scratching my head as to what has happened today
April 6, 2019 at 10:57 #1416494What a beautiful round of jumping by Min!
April 6, 2019 at 19:23 #1416637Spectacular performance by Min; I’ve never seen him travel more comfortably or jump so well. He seemed to stay the trip, was running on strongly at the end, so maybe a step up in trip will see further improvement

Provisional ratings are always a bit of a guess without all the needed information. Timeform have now given Min a rating of 176.
Value Is EverythingApril 7, 2019 at 14:30 #1416745176 is still way too high considering Politologue bled and Waiting Patiently is clearly suffering. This time next year they will have adjusted that down to the 160s.
April 7, 2019 at 15:15 #1416748I’d be wary of that form (and care is often needed over all Aintree April form given that so many have been primed for Cheltenham and had tough races there).
I feel for Ruth Jefferson who had a horse and a half on her hands going to Ascot for that defeat of Cue Card. I thought at the time the horse had gone wrong after the last there, but whatever happened, he was off a long time afterwards.
Whatever the problem was, they haven’t fixed it. Given the way he cruised past Frodon and up to the flanks of Cue Card that day under hands and heels, he now finds zero under pressure, runs snatchily, never finds a rhythm, and just looks out of his comfort zone.
I hope they find and can fix what’s ailing him.
