I’ve been reading that some horses have failed a scan including Spanish Mission, and need to be scanned again later in the week.

Added Floating Artist 35-1 ew to my Grand Promenade 12-1 ew selection. Rolling the dice here as needs one to come out.

If your horse doesn’t get in does that make it balloted out with a void bet?

I always assumed it was a losing bet, but I could be wrong as I’ve not backed a ‘balloted out’ horse as far as I know.

Update: Read that balloted out horses would be void bets. I’ll see.

Ista, most UK bookies use Australian rules of racing for Ante post ( all in run or not ). Maybe some do it different but best to check the T&C’s first to make sure

    365

” Futures or Ante-Post bets are accepted on the basis all-in run or not, entered or not (All-In). Except where specifically Stated otherwise, stakes are lost on a Futures or Ante-Post bet if a selection does not take part and no deductions are made from winning Futures or Ante-Post bets.”

On a side note i doubt 24 will run so should be no problem with ballotted out. An absolute ridiculous carry on with these vet checks and scans.Hard to see any Euro horses taking the risk after this year, if a horse sneezed they would probably say he had Covid or something.

Spanish Mission allowed to run after recent injury scare. And Floating Artist has got in to the 24 at the latest stage.

Don’t know what others think but to me it’s rather an odd kind of ‘handicap’?
We have four horses allotted 9-2 or 9-0 then a massive 7lb gap with the rest of the entries all squeezed into a 9lb band.
With prize money of almost £90,000 down to 12th place well worth a go to be well beaten and pick up that much cash!
    good luck to all

Don’t usually pick one out for this but looking at the field was taken by the story behind 5yo mare TRALEE ROSE who has never run out of the first 5 in her career. She has an exceptional chance here to make the dream become a reality.

    Ocean Billy e/w
    Twilight payment e/w
    Grand Promenade e/w

Twilight payment clocked a fast time last year and despite a weight hike, may well have found some improvement. The draw means he can dictate early on, rest then attempt to secure the crown for a second year running.
His prep has been good good performances at home in both the St Ledger trial and the race itself.
The handicapper has reacted by raising him four pounds. With the horse in the hands of local trainers, Joseph O’Brien has been able to get into Australia and will be trackside. A decent low draw TP may well enjoy the run of the race.
Grand Promenade is a late December foal missing a three year old season and clearly likes the track with three wins.
Ocean Billy with NZ group runs could run into a held up place.

I’ve gone with Great House. He ran on Saturday but didn’t look to have a terribly hard time. Check out his birthday! Odd one.

Yes Greenasgrass I’ve selected the wrong horse.
I started writing about Great House and put down grand Promenade. half the write up is about great House and the latter bit is about grand prom. So Grand House too.
Both have good profiles and can go well. Missed a year out. Ex Donnacha O’Brien.

Unfortunately for me Emissary missed the cut by 3 so I’ve had a stab
at Sir Lucan who was a decent enough animal when with A O’Brien, he
gets in on bottom weight and could have a decent squeak
