Long way off, and obviously worth considering potential travel bans, and other potential COVID restrictions…..

Prince of Arran looks a big EW price this far out, and I’ll try not to hold off as long this year, having missed out in November when the price went.
The one I’ve always liked for this is Euchen Glen. I think his setback scuppered any serious plans they had for this, but after an excellent 2020, I just wonder if they’ll go for it. It’s probably a big ask, but until it’s ruled out, I’m happy to chip away at 100’s. He’s very good on his day, and I don’t mind taking a chance on him at this price.

October 21, 2021 at 12:05 #1564097Grand Promenade 12-1 ew
October 21, 2021 at 13:52 #1564104I had a speculative wager on Pondus for last year’s race but he didn’t make the field. So I backed him for this year’s Cup a few months ago at around 135/1. I also have him as the second leg of an each way double with Ebor winner Sonnyboyliston with the win odds for the double around 870/1. Over the past few months he’s been withdrawn from a warm up race on vet’s advice, ran well a few weeks ago, and has slowly but surely climbed up the Order of Entry, now sitting at 25. He’s entered at Moonee Valley on Saturday so I’m hoping and praying he comes through that ok and that he makes the start at Melbourne this time. Right now I’d be happy to take the Place return from the EW double as the favourite looks very good, but you never know in this game, so I’m staying optimistic.
October 25, 2021 at 09:29 #1564574Sir Lucan EW @ 33/1’s
A bit of a quirky character in the Uk this year and bombed out in the St. Leger, but the time before that ran Yibir to a couple of lengths and had Scope behind who won a big G1 in France yesterday. Rated 110 in the UK and if he gets two miles and comes back to his best

Gets 8KG from last years winner and 7 from Spanish Mission and the FAV.
A strange year this year compared to normal and the list of those left in has been decimated this morning compared to normal.

October 26, 2021 at 16:33 #1564688I’ve had a stab at Emissary who wasn’t such a bad beast with Hugo Palmer. He won
2 of his 5 races here, although it should have been 3 and fair play to James Doyle when
winning at Yarmouth he said “I rode Emissary all wrong in the Cocked Hat at Goodwood
when I rode him for speed, but this was more his game” He was beaten a fast diminishing
neck at Goodwood when coming late, but made all at Yarmouth and never looked in danger.
Prince Khalid Bin Abdullah transferred him down under on 1st January, obviously with this
race in mind, but sadly passed away a few weeks later. He’s never gone further than 12f,
when out of his depth in the Derby, but the way he finished off his last win at Yarmouth
he looked like he could have gone round again after 1m 3 1/2f. It would be a fitting tribute
to Prince Abdullah if he were to do well here and at the odds is worth chancing a few quid
I reckon
