No problem Sea Bird. There were extenuating circumstances about the BBC debacle, if that’s what you’re talking about. But I freely admit I was awful. I was expected to read off a lap top which was invisible but WTF I proved to my satisfaction as well as most other people’s that I couldn’t do it.
The thing is you have to be very self confident, even over-confident, to do TV. Which is why so many Tv presenters seem odious. If you tend you be self critical, you stop talking, which is the ultimate TV crime.
Matt is very self confident, and as he’s become more practiced he’s acquired the knack of making fun of himself while he conveys information. I quite admire that. Don’t you?
May 4, 2007 at 08:44 #56247Flash,
It doesn’t take me to say anyone can post on any type of topic they themselves decide.
However, when the topic resembles a 5 year olds rant, then that’s got to be disappointing for everyone.
Check out the debate on Turf v Dirt between Zorro, EW & DJ for some incisive debate – the kind TRF is known for, as opposed to BF forum like drivel.
imho ;)

This is a racing forum is it not and a general section where members can post about whatever area of racing they like? Please correct me if I’m wrong.
If you don’t like a certain topic, tough, don’t read it then.
Maybe I suggest you create your own forum then if you like you can dictate what other people write about.
As far as this forum is concerned as long as I’m breaking no rules, I will post whatever I like and I won’t be bullied out of it by the likes of you.
Admin – I apologise for the little rant, I wish to cause no problem and I hope you see my point. I don’t dictate what other people write about so I expect the same courtesy in return.
Ditto, Flash
May 4, 2007 at 08:55 #56249To be fair lads, Chapman has had many hammerings ob this forum and after a while it becomes a bit boring.
Personally I think he’s entertaining but not worthy of continued debate. There’s classics at the weekend. Chapman definitely won;t be involved either.

Coming back to Chapman, I have the feeling that one day he is going to get into to trouble. Sometimes his mouth seems out of control and I feel it is inevitable that eventually he is going to say something slanderous.
I just hope that his producers will stand by him if/when that happens.
Colin
Hopefully they won’t stand by him seabird
Salselon that seems a snobbish attitude to take to me, biggest garbage on this thread is "Matt is very self confident, and as he’s become more practiced he’s acquired the knack of making fun of himself while he conveys information. I quite admire that, don’t you"? imo.
Aragorn you may be right about Chapman having plenty of discussion over the years but not everyone has been a member for donkey’s years like your goodself so will not have contributed, in the case of Flash 3 months.
If anyone’s not interested, ignore and read turf v dirt again or something similar.
May 4, 2007 at 10:57 #56251Was at an event where the ubiquitous "boyband" was present and almost choked when one of my companions blurted out "Look at that guy ~ could he BE any more orange?" That’s the last time I go to a do with Chandler Bing….
Salselon I find your petty digging rather childish so that makes us pretty much even.
If you don’t like a topic do what most people do, ignore it – simple.
May 4, 2007 at 20:15 #56253I can imagine who Chandler Bing may be Rory!!!
You gotta admit though – it was a damn good call!!!!
May 9, 2007 at 21:18 #56254Chapman – hmmm – well if you stay with ATR throughout an afternoon or evening I daresay he`s very tiring to say the least. I find him a lot more acceptable in small doses and can enjoy his presentation. He offers an opinion on everything ( including a very low opinion of the music of Kachaturian when his equine namesake was running). Why criticise Chapman when there any amount of more worthy targets on the BBC as their Epsom and Ascot extravaganzas will surely prove
May 9, 2007 at 22:02 #56255I like Matt Chapman a lot, I think he’s great and well worth his money on ATR for which he is well suited. ÂÂÂ
He’s vibrant, opinionated and humourous. He can also do excellent commentaries when the audio is down – quite an achievement. He’s also quick off the draw as I sent him an email a few days ago and he read it within about 5 seconds.
Quite handsome too, from a feminine point of view. Bit heavy on the make up, but handsome enough.
May 10, 2007 at 05:41 #56256I have to disagree
Any guy who feels the need to go to a tanning salon is not attractive in any way. He’s too smarmy and fond of himself by half. *shudders* He’s not good looking but thinks he is.I don’t find him humourous either. He laughs at his own ‘jokes’ and gaffes and is trying way too hard to be upbeat.
The only thing I do agree on is that he’s OK as a race commentator inn an emergency. He always knows which horse is which; quite a feat off the cuff!
Handsome, Matt Chapman??? Are we talking about the same Matt Chapman?
I will never understand women lol.
May 10, 2007 at 17:29 #56258the guy is a complete and utter w***** i would blast him and thommo off in the space shuttle on a one way ticket to mars!!
May 10, 2007 at 17:51 #56259I don’t think anyone can deny that of all the commentators on ANY station, MC isn’t one for sitting on Racing’s very crowded fence.
I think he’s been reined in a bit after the Zar Solitario comments though, which leaves the Internet (and Steve Mellish) as the last organ for calling something as it really is.
May 10, 2007 at 18:36 #56260this betfair forum is boring.
May 10, 2007 at 20:52 #56261Handsome??? Matt Chapman???? Yeah, if you tend to go for prats who look like that cartoon guy with the blond slicked back hair who featured in adverts in the 1980s – oh yeah, and who has been tango’d!!

May 12, 2007 at 11:47 #56262Yes I think he’s very handsome but then as a post menopausal woman a lot of men under 40 can have that impact.
He’s a terrific presenter well suited to his current role, and what a change to have someone on a racing channel with such a great sense of humour combined with a clean and well groomed image – a lot to be said for that in this age of scruff. ÂÂÂ
Christ – if I was a little younger, or a man even …whatever who knows…lol! I’d be delighted to go out with him, he seems generous and caring as well – unusual attributes today.
…and thanks to Matt for pulling up Primarolo [Bet365] for referring to a horse as ‘this thing’ – unacceptable in this day and age.
