JANUARY 4/1 Power
Has run well this year without that Group one win but this looks perfect for her and think be one to beat
Having been kept in the race after the last update City of Memphis would interest me. One Look is mentioned for the Blandford on the Sunday for the trainer which gives hope COM will come here.
Firstly, Twomey’s record here is 312. The 3rd, Just Beautiful was racing in this having not raced since May. He’s also had Purple Lily finish 3rd in a 1000g to then return with a close 3rd in a Blandford.
It’s fair to say the trainer can get them ready for the occasion off a layoff.The next thing that struck me is COM’s inexperience. It’s a negative for a contest like this it has to be said, nevermind the layoff she’s had, for whatever reason.
However, it’s clear she’s got plenty of ability, 5th racing wide in a 1000g. 1/2l behind Cercene. She has franked that form pretty nicely and is priced at 6/1 for this too. The horses racing prominent in the Ire 1000g had a pace advantage, and this lady was in the rear and racing wide throughout, so i’d say she could be marked up on her 2nd run of her life. It’s worth mentioning some of the horses in and around her in that race haven’t gone on to do much, but they raced more prominent, and also had much more racing experience.
She could really come on leaps and bounds here. January hasn’t won this year and Fallen Angel just managed to beat her. They are both decent if unspectacular. Touched upon Cercene already, she’s pretty good and underestimated again probably with Hvy at Goodwood over 10f maybe not perfect.
When i look at the rest they are all pretty questionable to my eye.At 14s i quite like her, i imagine she’s going here too. Maybe the price holds given she’s not ran in so long, but then again, Twomey’s a popular one with the punters…..

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!imo Fallen Angel combined with January have quite a bit better chance of winning than the field… And you can get odds against one of the two winning. I’ve backed Fallen Angel with a saver on January.
Also want to be against Cercene, her Ascot victory was when the Joseph Murphy stable were in magnificent form. Nowhere near that now.Value Is EverythingWell done Mike and GT. She did well to get back up with the other filly leaning on her.
