State Man looked very very good last time, while I’m surprised that Vauban is as big as 5’s.

I was hoping/expecting that Vauban would be second fav, giving me a better price on Sharjah, but doesn’t look like it.

I’m definitely betting Sharjah, and I’m hoping that I can beat the current 7-2. I got the impression they expected more from him last time, and though work to do here with his younger stablemates, I’m hoping this place can get the best out of him yet again

    Sharjah 13-2

Vauban at 5-1 might very well be too big a price here. He’s my call just ahead of State Man

Vauban being third pick may be in need of the run ?

Top-level ex-juvenile hurdlers rising five often struggle in their next season, though there have been 5yo Champion Hurdlers, and not just Night Nurse.

The OR says Vauban has something to find, but his form might be a bit stronger than the Handicapper thinks as Pied Piper has done alright so far.

Interesting race – I hear Constitution Hill has requested a TV in his box so he can watch, as he doubts if he will see much of them when they meet.

Think Vauban is better than his OR given the way he won at Cheltenham, could have won by a fair bit further but bundled the last and then had to quicken away from them – which he did so easily, though can’t be sure he’ll run to his peak ability first time out after such a long break! If I were betting I’d probably back him as 5/1 is more than fair. Either way like Ian’s said we may well find out who’s coming second in March tomorrow so will be an interesting one to view!

Not sure he’s strictly 3rd pick, Patrick was only riding Sharjah…

They’ve been pretty negative on Vauban this year- obviously trying to downplay him as he’s coming out of the juvenile ranks, but i’d say he’s not been sparkling at home…

I was in the playground when Willie blew his whistle
Townend went 1st and picked State Man who trotted behind him with his chest puffed out and head held high
Danny was about to pick Sharjah
    when Patrick shouted out “bagsy”
    Danny said “that’s so unfair”
they started pulling each others ties then Willie blew his whistle again
Willie let Patrick pick Sharjah on account of winning this race the past 10 years with him
Sharjah trotted behind Patrick, ears pricked
Vauban, a tear in his eye, limped, awkwardly nearly pulling up behind Danny

Pied Piper is my bet here at 11-1. The Mullins horses obviously look superior, but at 11-1, I’m hoping for him to at least make a challenge

Neither Vauban nor Pied Piper has what I’d call a Jumps pedigree.

Full credit to everyone looking for value, but I think State Man wins this.

In any average season, I’d think he was Champion Hurdle material.

Pied can’t do much more than what’s he done so far this season , as for Pedigrees Red Run was bred to be a sprinter ….

I think Vauban is likely going to end up being the best horse of the bunch but giving up race fitness is not ideal and if State Man has any pretensions to being a legit Champion Hurdle horse he simply has to win this.

Being the guaranteed pace in the race it is a good thing She Is Electric is running as it would have turned into a right tactical burn up otherwise.

A positive sign that Vauban didn’t get sent to slosh round Limerick this afternoon against 2 others. Hoping for a good showing.

Got to go for Sharjah in this race, now that he is 13/2. Sharjah 13/2
