Wolves 4:30 – Southern state, a well bred newcomer from a top yard. Out of street cry, on paper looks useful, and this is a very weak race. Think it could make a winning debut.
Interesting to see what the odds are in the morning, could be worth a bet.
Your thoughts???

January 23, 2012 at 10:22 #387922Must have had some problems as he is making his debut as a four year old!
My par for a class 5 race is 72 and the best on my figures is
Spin Cast
on
78
.
On breeding alone if he can’t better a figure of 78 the connections will be very disappointed I should think.
Can he win? yes I think so…
January 23, 2012 at 11:43 #387931It appears weak in the market early on. Generally seems to have opened around 7/2 in most books, now out to a general 9/2 , although a best priced 5s with Victor Chandler.
Spin Cast as noted by TBB seems the strongest in the market.
The market may be wrong anyway, and it is early yet. Good luck with it in any eventJanuary 23, 2012 at 16:48 #387962Overall a pleasing debut I thought. The winning pair coming home 5 lengths clear of Spin Cast the highest rated horse in the race. I wouldn’t be surprised if that event turns out to be a better than average Grade 5 sandpit maiden. Opened at 6s on the course and went off 15/2 would indicate that improvement may be forthcoming.
Never saw the preliminaries , did the horse look fit and straight ?January 23, 2012 at 18:37 #387982I agree coggy, pretty good debut, as you said the front pair pulled clear of the rest, so one for next time out I think.
Mark Johnston has another one tomorrow 4:00 Kempton called
Prussian
who had a very good debut, expect it to go very close on its second run tomorrow.
