For those interested Makybe Diva has had a colt this morning.
She foaled down at 3.15am Friday at Coolmore Stud.
Peter O’Brien said the bay colt, by English Derby winner Galileo, was doing well as was the mother.
"He is a lovely colt with a white face and two white feet."
Makybe Diva won three successive Melbourne Cups from 2003 to 2005 and is Australasia’s greatest stakes earner with more than A$14.5 million prizemoney.
Unfortunately there are now rumours circulating at 2am Sydney time that all is not well. So fingers crossed that the colt is OK.

Hee hee snap
August 17, 2007 at 23:08 #111639Let’s hope that this colt turns out to be better than Sunline’s first colt, Sunstrike.
August 18, 2007 at 03:36 #111649Was Sunstrike not that good then?
August 18, 2007 at 04:04 #111650Sunline put everything she had in to racing and I doubt she will ever throw anything worthwhile. I don’t think the really really top mares do. (Well they don’t down under )
August 18, 2007 at 04:30 #111654Well no news is good news – the colt is apparently still standing. Unfortunately he is now in a tug of war with the owners who are going through a multi million $ divorce settlement Mrs Diva has been offered $70M but is holding out for more………….. and the colt is up for grabs

August 21, 2007 at 11:39 #111933mark prescott will be hoping it is heading his way so he can enter it in three races over 5 furlongs at wolves…
August 21, 2007 at 11:42 #111935Good grief he’ll need to get his wallet out, they already have a A$3 Million price tag on his head IF he goes through the sales!
August 21, 2007 at 13:35 #111957In fairness to Sunstrike (Rock Of Gibraltar filly); she only ran once as a 2YO in May. Finished last on heavy ground at Pukekohe. Too early to be writing off her chances after only one run.
August 21, 2007 at 15:27 #111970Gorgeous foal. I want to take him home, but I better start saving up with a price tag like that!!
I have no maternal instincts, until I see thoroughbred foals. I will definitely choose breeding racehorses over having children anyday!!

LOL!! Foals are cuter, smell better, don’t disturb you several times a night and are probably cheaper!!
*EDIT*
A grin that says "I’m a cheeky little *******". Eyes that say "Are you looking at me, punk?"
August 23, 2007 at 22:28 #112355that foal is gorgeous he looks a good size just by looking at him sitting down
im going to do a course at the national stud i noticed there was a good few mares in foal to some pretty decent stallions, galileo being one of them! although he doesnt stand there, i also recall ones being in foal to diktat, dubawi and grand slam!
i remember a yearling in the field by one cool cat, wont be long until he’s all bought and ready to be a little racehorse *fingers crossed*
hope the foal grows up nice and healthily with no ailments or problemsAugust 24, 2007 at 02:35 #112366If he makes it to raceday he’ll be the most watched 2YO in 2009 (In Australia of course)
