Macs Joy lost his life when breaking down in the Boylesports.com International Hurdle at Cheltenham.

An admirably tough individual. RIP, Mac.

Another decent horse we’ve lost this season.

Horrible sight to see, he clearly suffered a severe leg injury and there was no hope, even the commentator knew that at the time on 4, didn’t know what to say.

Such a sad loss. The injury became apparent on the flat for anyone wondering, didn’t seem directly connected to jumping at all.

Yeah, during the race the camera didn’t even pick it up. One minute he was there, next he was gone. Steve Mellish sounded rather shocked when he watched the replay, and seemed of the initial impression that Mac’s Joy had simply gone backwards this year. It was not until seeing the replay that he realised that Mac had broken down.
I hate those full breaks, not a nice sight at all. But yes, it was on the flat. Probably simply took a bad step or something. Nothing more than a tragic accident.
A bonny little horse who would have again run with credit at the Festival.
    RIP Mac.

Very sad indeed – those types of injuries are nauseating to see, you know full well what the outcome is going to be and you just hope the vets are there as quickly as possible.
