I notice that Lucy alexander is one ride (but please do correct me if i’m wrong) away from breaking Nina Carberry’s record of wins by a female jump jockey in a season.
I know she broke Lorna Vincent’s record a few months back, but it would be great to see her reach 40 winners, which is not impossible, by the end of Saturday. She currently stands at 37 winners.
Just worth keeping an eye on…..
April 24, 2012 at 13:24 #401996I note that Lucy is now down to a 3lb claim. Some effort to go from 7lbs to 3lbs in about 8 months as a professional.

April 26, 2012 at 14:26 #402219That was a truly fantastic ride on Papamoa in the novices’ handicap hurdle at Perth.
Pushed along from before four out and still a good 15 lengths behind the leader at two out. But she kept at him and conjured a flying finish from the gelding, despite only using three strikes after the last and no strikes at all between the penultimate and the last flight.
Now on 38 with 11 booked rides left this season. 40 now seems very achievable.
Good luck to her!
April 26, 2012 at 14:29 #402220Totally agree with your comment BH. What a truely amazing piece of riding, without excess use of the stick. This is the thing i love about Lucy Alexander – she never gives up and this was also shown on Lord Vilez at Cheltenham the other week.
40 is very much on the cards! Fantastic to see!
April 27, 2012 at 01:28 #402250And unless he’s ridden a winner or two that I’ve missed the magic 40 winners could put her level at the top of the conditional standings with Henry Brooke.

here here, crackin ride!!
April 27, 2012 at 09:34 #402261Completely agree with all above post.
April 27, 2012 at 10:11 #402269With Papamoa it’s definitely case of familiarity helping. This one stays well but is always hard work and is normally off bridle mid-race or even earlier. Lucy knew that he would keep responding and kept at him all the way.

Indeed – it was a very good finish!

Wins as an amateur do not count so she will not catch Henry Brooke.
April 27, 2012 at 17:18 #402310She got a kick when falling from Tipsy Dara, possibly from our own Outlaw Tom. Missed her rides for the rest of the afternoon. I heard a member of the Alexander family discussing who would drive her home, by the sound of it she probably wanted to drive herself! Stubborness seems to be a trait she has in common with AP McCoy!

April 27, 2012 at 22:40 #402349And she missed a winner later in the card following that fall.

Ah,yes of course.
Law of sod she should miss a winner after the fall, sounds like nothing worse than a bit of bruising though.
