West Balboa is going under the radar a little so far. He’s my early bet at 6-1

I’ll no doubt bet Dashel Drasher. Even if he wins tomorrow, he’ll still be a backable price for this

The interesting one for me though is Chantry House. He’s looked fairly regressive, and his run last time is way short of what’s required here, but I thought he was looked after a bit, and with no fences to get in the way, he might just come on for it.

I bet him right after the 2022 Festival, for last season’s Stayers Hurdle, before eventually cashing out, and for all he’s a horse that gets plenty of criticism, I’m just about talking myself into betting him. Proper risky, and easy to knock, especially when they’ve got Champ, but on the verge of taking that 25’s

    Chantry House

Great race – those two horse going to war every time they run and yet still back for more…..epitomises what is great about jump racing.

Paisley Park giving 6lbs and race fitness to the winner was a hell of a run – they are the type of horses that jockeys love to ride but also run the tight rope of exceeding whip rules because they don’t do a lot until the whip is used.

Just watched the reply from after jumping the last (which was when both jockeys started using their whip) and Bellamy by my count was bang on six strikes but with Dingle I counted 8……really hate that I had to resort to that after watching such a great race but knowing how both hores respond to pressure…….

Looks a poor race – if Paisley Park is still up to winning a Gd1 then that tells me staying hurdling is woeful. He’s a grand servant, but where are all the young horses……

And both Champ & The Dashel Drasher have had their limitations exposed many times…….a Gd1 race in name only.

Pleased I left Chantry alone (wish I’d left him for Pertemps), so don’t mind having an Antepost on Dashel Drasher. 8’s is ok, but just having a small go, as I could potentially get bigger on the day.

He should run his race, but sensible head on, Champ and West Balboa look more likely for win purposes

    Edit – Topped up

    Dashel Drasher 11’s

Blueking D’Oroux is improving, likes Ascot, and is a very nice price.

So don't run, just like the others always do

Interestingly only 1 4yo has won in the history of the race

    West Balboa for me.

Blueking is interesting also but I feel he’s way too young to be running in this at only 4yo.

I think that this is there for the taking for West Balboa, but I’ll have a second ew bet on Blueking. I’ll bet Blueking early, as I can see his price crumbling

Crambo the facts are no matter how unlucky he may or may not have been last time, he didn’t win a handicap off 139 and now he’s pretty short for a Grade 1. Look at his price versus Gowel Road who was just behind him in the handicap, its ludicrous.

West Balboa, if you look at last years Lanzarote Hurdle she’s only just beaten Red Risk when he’s giving her weight, quite a lot of weight before Freddie Gingell’s claim, its not outstanding form and I don’t think she needed to improve much to win a weaker race at Aintree in April. Anyone’s guess what she needed to do with half the hurdles out against Brewinupastorm in November.

They both have potential but their prices are really silly and its as much based around the betting public writing off the older brigade. Champ is a law to himself but Paisley Park and Dashel Drasher are actually holding their form pretty well and I’d rather back either of them than the two potential horses.
