There aren’t many top class staying hurdles, and I believe the Cleeve Hill would be the nearest, at the end of January.
December 25, 2009 at 17:24 #265470now this has been moved to newbury with the long straight i just cant see big bucks not running diamond harry down!!
i think diamond harry is really a chaser, he seemed to look a different horse over the brush hurdles (mini fences) and he seemed to respect them more, back over conventional hurdles and the way he flattened down under pressure in the ballymore one has to doubt if he really is a hurdler!! personally i think he just wants a trip which one offset that but big bucks is way too good for him!!
big bucks jumped brillantly last time out and will once again show why a few people rated him as the best staying hurdler ever i struggle to think if ID or Baracouda could beat him

PN seems to have almost it all. Kauto the best 2m chaser for 40+ years + Denman who to many is just as good. Master Minded the best 2 miler since Dunkirk if if not the best of all time and now Big Bucks the best staying hurdler of all time.

Maybe it’s hard to swallow but the great Tom Dreaper was in asimilar position way back in the 60’s.
Can’t believe how sweet he is on Big Bucks, rating him the best in the yard. Mind you but for UR in the Hennessy he’d be going for 8 on the trot and has never looked like being beat. Can be little doubt which horse he has in mind for the Gold Cup when the big two have gone.
Think I might switch my bet to Dave’s Dream on the same card, sorta dents the confidence when you read things like that.
December 28, 2009 at 21:48 #266137I am a machine.
No really. An actual machine. Just don’t touch the skin please.
December 29, 2009 at 06:21 #266155You simply cannot oppose Big Buck’s for a win here. Karabak is unproven on the ground and won’t even sneak a place. Diamond Harry will just pip Whiteoak for 2nd. She is currently priced 25/1 and 11/4 on BetFair to place. Definitely worth a punt!

Had myself a little bet on Diamond Harry but main bet on Daves Dream and Big Bucks(Chetenham 1/1) for a double.
Way I look at it is if Big Bucks wins today Cheltenham becomes abit of a formality. Of course if Dave’s Dream can’t do the business it wont matter..the chances we take in life
December 29, 2009 at 12:11 #266192If it’s any consolation Fist I had Dave’s Dream as part of a treble today.
December 29, 2009 at 12:13 #266193I make Big Bucks an absolute certainty for this.
I have just watched Nicholls’ Take The Breeze win the first at Newbury by an absolute distance. Dave’s Dream was never at the races, as they say.

December 29, 2009 at 12:30 #266196I hope Diamond can hang on to Big Bucks tail at least until he quickens away after the last.Connections will have Diamond jumping fences then!

Big words from the modest one! Just remember its one in every 2 of P,Nicholls odds on shots get beat!!

If I may be immodest for a few seconds: Big Buck’s is one in that statistical pairing of Nicholls’ odds on shots which won’t !

Himself is setting himself up for a fall here! The worst thing is Diamond is one of those horses that travels with so much ease you will be thinking when is Big Bucks going to shake him off!!
