Well done Ginge

She has backed some massive priced winners this season!!
STAMP HILL 50/1 DOLPHIN VISTA 66/1 KINGSWELL THEATRE 33/1 and now this at 50/1!! And they are just the ones I can remember!! I have no idea how she does it but she is showing a profit from March until now!!
December 1, 2017 at 16:30 #1329716I don’t understand why some horses are such huge prices in small fields like this, especially as the main protagonists have bigger races ahead of them and may not be intended to have a hard race. I think mrs raymo must be my long lost sister albeit the one with the better strike rate!
December 1, 2017 at 16:42 #1329723Thistlecrack was a long way clear on Timeform ratings, but coming back after injury there was a big question mark about him. The others were quite tightly rated. Beer Goggles was only (if memory serves) 9 lbs below UNWIMH at the weights… And Beer Goggles put up an improved effort last time out. Then there was the important factor of being by far the most likely to get a soft lead under the best front running jockey around and other jockeys often under-estimate how easy it is to pick up a front running outsider who’s got his own way up front.
Value Is EverythingDecember 1, 2017 at 16:58 #1329726I know it is after the event but Beer Goggles has won a class 4 class 3 and then a class two in his last five runs!!
A perfect example of progression and trainer moving him up slowly!!
And now he has won a class one!!

And Moe I am not sure what her strike rate is but she does have a knack for backing the big priced ones!! I could list a fair few she has backed including Elgin Star Rock Saunter Exitas and on and on all at double figure prices!!
I am thinking of starting a tipping service for her LOL LOL
December 1, 2017 at 18:08 #1329747Thistlecrack is a gross horse and his trainer has misread the fitness levels of his charges first time out more than once, repeatedly with Cue Card.
The horse might actually need another race for full fitness and Tizz might be regretting leaving his debut this late. He’s just increased the already fine chance of Bristol De Mai at Kempton.
As to Beer Goggles, if he was sure to run at Cheltenham I’d be all over the 25s available. More often than not what you see is what you get, especially with improvers. (I think he was Topspeed’s selection today) But trainer says he might wait for Aintree.
December 1, 2017 at 19:50 #1329756Personally I think The Worlds End is the one to be on for the stayers at Cheltenham. Hopefully the trainers can get him cherry ripe for then.
25/1 is huge!!
December 1, 2017 at 21:05 #1329772William Hill only go 5/1 for Thistlecrack in the King George. I wouldn’t take those odds on him turning up to be honest.
Even a trainer who tends to overestimate fitness must be a million miles off in his judgement if he thought the horse remotely ready today.
People would have laughed in your face if you had suggested Colin’s Sister would beat him 4 lengths getting just a pound but that is what has happened.
I always felt Thistlecrack hadn’t quite made it as a novice chaser despite winning the King George. It was a small field renewal, which was pretty much a match for most people’s money. Cue Card has looked ropey since and sometimes you just have to accept when horses have passed their peak.
Bristol De Mai will go to Kempton with a chance, because some of those in the betting are either not what they were, or just aren’t as good as required in a division where consistency at the top just isn’t there. It seems that most of the “New great hope” horses fall flat after one Gold Cup win. I reckon Sizing John is looking ripe for another winner who won’t come back round the curtain for an encore.
Had I backed Thistlecrack for the King George, I would have binned my ticket today.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
December 1, 2017 at 23:02 #1329812I don’t feel that Beer Goggles got a soft lead. He went a decent gallop and Uknowhatimeanharry had every chance to go past him but the leader just pulled out more. We shouldn’t underestimate the winner’s performance.
I thought it was a superb ride from Richard Johnson. The way he kept asking BG for big leaps plus his will to win were the perfect match for the horse’s jumping ability and refusal to be passed.
