As I’m at the course I feel I really should have a bet so stuck a modest amount on Thistlecrack at evens. If he’s in as good form as the Tizzards are making out then he’ll win and it’s as simple as that in my book.
December 1, 2017 at 09:58 #1329612Best of luck all you Colin’s Sister supporters, of which there seem to be many.
December 1, 2017 at 12:19 #1329632As i ssid previously i wasnt going to have a bet, but with TC coming out to 11/8 i feel thats a good enough price to have a bet on, there wont be many opportunities to back him at those odds in this type of field
Thistlecrack 11/8
December 1, 2017 at 13:33 #1329649I’ll probably back Thistlecrack at Evens here as he’s by far the greatest horse Harry has come up against.
To be honest, having backed both already for Cheltenham at 5/1 and 6/1, I hope they finish 20 lengths clear of the 3rd and both look like superstars.
That outcome is best for racing too I think.
Took Evens the other day but he’s now 11/8 so have had a top up.
Really want to see him and Harry finish 20 lengths clear of a good yardstick in Wholestone.
This could be a huge race for the antepost Cheltenham markets of two of the biggest races in the Gold Cup and Stayers Hurdle.
December 1, 2017 at 15:07 #1329677Well well. Congratulations anyone on it
December 1, 2017 at 15:10 #1329680I heard a lot about how this wasn’t a two horse race but don’t tho I heard the winner mentioned. Well done if anyone backed him.
December 1, 2017 at 15:10 #1329681Blimey
December 1, 2017 at 15:12 #1329683Some pick if you found that, not sure what to make of TC, of the same opinion on ukwimh, badly needed prep for tc? Or like i said earlier in the thread, maybe one tough race to many last season
Shakes up the KG market that little bit more
December 1, 2017 at 15:14 #1329684I dreamt last night that Thistlecrack ran badly and they pulled him out of the King George. The first half has come true anyway.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
December 1, 2017 at 15:16 #1329685I backed the second but I have to say that Mrsraymo backed the winner at 50/1 !!
God knows how she does it but she does back some BIG price winners!! Unbelievable!!
December 1, 2017 at 15:22 #1329687Thistlecrack looked like his usual self but has just got tired. That’s not as bad a performance as it probably looks. He’s ran well for 90% of the way and then his absence has left him tired at the end. I might still back him for the King George if he makes it.
With Harry.. what else is there for the Stayers hurdle? I think he’s ran well there but the winner has just done him off the front. A really game performance from Beer Goggles but I think harry would reverse the form at a track he loves like Cheltenham. I’d say that he is a really decent bet for the Stayers hurdle at the double figure prices now.
December 1, 2017 at 15:23 #1329688He cut out worringly quickly between 3rd and 2nd last (from travelling well) and you would have to hope he wasn’t as fit as connections believed him to be beforehand.
Scu has just said he travelled as well and felt as good as ever until getting tired 2 out, seemed like he was not bothered about the finishing result and more concerned about how well he felt through the race considering the injury he had.
If you think he will make the big leap forwarded in the next 25 days fitness wise, you can get him at 10-1 for the KG now.
December 1, 2017 at 15:26 #1329691Well done to Beer Goggles, but I found it a bit frustrating. Perhaps Thistlecrack wasn’t
far enough forward, but I would have expected him to take it by the throat from 3 or 4 out.
Unowhatimeanharry clearly kept Thistlecrack in his sites, but as a consequence Beer Goggles
was allowed to set his own pace up front, and by the time it was obvious it wasn’t going
to play out as expected, it was too late. Hats off to Richard Johnson, but imo he kind of nicked
it. Had Thistlecrack been up to it today, I would have expected him to taken it up and run
clear of them all but Harry, and I thought harry would have taken him in the last 1/2f.
Admittedly I’m biased, as I’m a big fan of Harry. It was all a bit disappointing

Personally, I don’t bet antepost on the King George. I’ll make a choice the night before but at the prices, I expect he may go off at a decent price if he runs their now.
December 1, 2017 at 15:48 #1329700Harry giving weight all round and I don’t think the winner would get an uncontested lead in the stayers itself – other jockeys will be wiser to the tactics going forward.
December 1, 2017 at 16:11 #1329705I backed the second but I have to say that Mrsraymo backed the winner at 50/1 !!

Me and Mrs Raymo.

Put an each way bet on betfair @ 84/1 but it wasn’t taken this morning – down to around 50/1 when I looked. Had another scan of the odds 10 minutes before the off and 74/1 avilable – so had 4 points each way. Put it up on my DLAP thread, no time to get on here. Didn’t win a massive amount – Colin’s Sister and Wholestone were bigger bets – but @ 74/1 and 70/1 can’t complain.
Value Is EverythingDecember 1, 2017 at 16:20 #1329707Without writing him off completely, you have to worry that he remembers what a hard race he had with Many Clouds and simply doesn’t fancy it anymore.
