Kiwi Bay was on my final list but I just felt that after having been beaten so comfortably by both Irish Heartbeat, Docofthebay & Gunner Lindley already, there was very little chance of that form being reversed.
March 31, 2011 at 16:14 #348094I’m pretty keen on Irish heartbeat, don’t really know much about the flat, but seems a really smart type.
March 31, 2011 at 21:12 #348149Since 2003,every time The Lincoln has been run at Doncaster it has been won by a 4yo,for this stat to continue then either
Taqleed
,
Gunner Lindley
,
Fremont
, or
Our Joe Mac
has to be victorious. From the above 4 only
Taqleed
could be in the mould of "Streams of Gold","Expresso Star" and "Penitent" in that they are all lightly raced 4yo"s with winning form as 3yo"s.
Fremont
would be my dark horse of the race as his 3yo campaign didn"t show his true potential.Of the others both Dandys
Al Muheer
and particularly
Dream Lodge
at 48"s on the machine have serious claims from a handicapping perspective.
April 1, 2011 at 20:39 #348325i quite like lowther for this trainer in form will like the ground and horse seems to be improving think he has a good each way chance
April 1, 2011 at 22:53 #348340Taqleed Wins. Hopefully will drift a bit with R. Hills saying ground quicker than ideal.
Manassas to win the consolation for Brian Meehan and the talented Beuzelin.
Good Luck all!
Martin
April 2, 2011 at 02:10 #348342Manassas does look a very good shout and have backed at 18.5. Won the Spring Mile in 2009 after 337 days off, won there again 6 months later, runs abysmally everywhere else, now runs off just 1lb higher than when winning the Spring Mile. Good luck, Martin. Also got Kalk Bay running for me purely down to Haggas training and the booking of Murtagh.
Penitent looks a classic front-running Frankie opportunity to me, but Irish Heartbeat my main hope. Old Joe Mac a nice back-up. Leaving the favourite well alone.
April 2, 2011 at 02:26 #348343I’m taking a shot at this with
Tartan Gigha
. He lost the plot after starting well last season, but is well handicapped now and showed much more enthusiasm on his comeback. You know he’ll be battling gamely at the death too.
It is a sentimental selection but not a crazy one.
April 2, 2011 at 11:10 #348374Dr Crane was a good horse before his lay off. If he’s fit enough he could run a big race? I might have a small ew on Dream Lodge; new stable might work the oracle with him and is well handicapped if they do. Also like Tartan Gigha and Lowther. W Hills doing first 5 places as well.
April 2, 2011 at 11:31 #348380Al Muheer is the one I’ll be backing.
April 2, 2011 at 11:50 #348382A method I’ve been using lately reduces a large field of runners to 8/9/10 plausables. I make an idiosycratic tissue and identify (IMO) overlays/underlays.
here’s what I’ve come up with for the Lincoln.Overlays
Dubai Hills
Prince Of Dance
Eton Rifles
Castles In The Air
Al Muheer
Gunner Lindley
Irish HeartbeatJust one underlay
TaqleedMake of it what you will.
April 2, 2011 at 13:41 #348400i really fance Eton Forever for this one, still available at 16s. This is a group horse whose 3yo campaign was cut short by a slightly bizarre problem on his last run which should be discounted, he’s also been gelded too.
His maiden win over the subsequently impressive listed winner of Cumani’s, Afsare, now looks rather decent.
Would’ve skooshed it, 10/1 consolation though
April 2, 2011 at 14:10 #348403Light from mars
Dream Lodge
Al MuheerAll E/W at decent prices for me, paying 1st 5 places.
Fingers crossedApril 2, 2011 at 14:18 #348404I’ll stick to the jumps!
Sweet Lightning’s Trainer’s comment in the Racing Post today
"….his best form is on a sharp turning mile and a quarter"Trainers – what do they know?!
