Incredible horse, born in the year I followed my first Cheltenham Festival. Beat Istabraq in the ’99 Hattons’s Grace and received a letter from JP for that achievement. Multiple G1 winner over hurdles and was never frightened to take on the very best.
Rest in peace Limestone Lad, I’m sure he had the best retirement one could imagine.

Legend of a horse who lived to a great age. Tough as old nails.

I was lucky enough to see him a few times; a real trail-blazer, 2 1/2 miles in soft he was almost unbeatable. Both times he looked big and strong, surprised he didn’t take to fences. There is some romance about the likes of him and Danoli and Norton’s Coin; small operations, but given the right horses can achieve big things. So glad he had the long and happy retirement he deserved
