I saw him parading in the paddock before the Diamond Jubilee and thought he looked an absolute stand out on looks.I thought he was a moral in the July cup,gee they bet a good price! For mine he is the best modern day English sprinter I have seen.I think he could go to Australia and win the big sprints,he goes early and is so gutsy.Certainly a world class English sprinter!
He was extremely impressive at Ascot, even more so today.

It’s one of life’s mysteries how Gale Force Ten was shorter odds today. Of course the punters will follow O’Brien over a cliff, but his fellow was dropping back in trip for the second time in a row

    and

taking on older horses who are specialists. It always looked a tough gig.

Despite jinking off line at one point, Lethal Force won with a bit in hand and hopefully he can provide something that has been lacking in the sprinting division in recent times i.e. consistency. I doubt we’ll get 9/2 next time.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Agreed Steve would be lovely to see him string another 3 or 4 wins together.

I would slightly question what he beat today, Gale Force Ten surely a better horse over further, Sole Power and Shea Shea better over shorter. Still can only beat whats in front of you.

Credit to Society Rock finishing 2nd once again after finishing 2nd to him the time before and beating him the time before that!

He looks at the moment the best sprinter Europe has had since Oasis Dream.

    Jollyp,
Just thinking about latter year assignments for Lethal. The Haydock Sprint Cup, Nunthorpe, Prix de L’Abbaye on Arc Day or the lure of the Hong Kong Sprint in December. Which way would you lean?

    Hello Slewman,
I think Lethal Force at 6f can use his high cruising speed and kick,at 5f I think the field is more compact and more pressure.Hk in December, wonder how he would handle then very humid conditions? Though as he showed he likes the fast track conditions and the prizemoney is a real incentive.Wherever Slewman I think he will have to go international and try and chase the big $ and try and add to his already good Group 1 record.I think he will measure up well in any race though I would probably try avoiding a horse like Lord Kanaloa.

I love Lethal Force. IMO, he’s the most improved flat horse that’s currently in training.

To be frank though, I never thought much of him in his earlier days. It was only when he won the Hungerford Stakes (I backed Strong Suit in that race) that he first grabbed my attention, made me sit up and take notice. Even when he lost some races afterwards, the way how he’d knuckle down and get on with his strong front-running attack always left the impression that, he could, one day, possess the potential to really take the sting out of other horses if there was improvement left.

Fast forward to yesterday and, hey presto, this horse now has a decent finishing kick too. My only concern is that slower ground might be his achilles heel. That said, he is a very honest horse who will give 100% and could still have more improvement left in him.

Can’t wait to see him again. Hail to the new sprint king!

The stable mentioned the Maurice de Gheest as a possible target. That is over half a furlong longer and not where I’d like him to go, seeing that he seems to have improved at a true sprinting trip. I’d love to see what he could do in the Nunthorpe and perhaps cement himself as the top sprinter at 5 and 6 furlongs. Interestingly, Clive Cox seems to have faith that Reckless Abandon can still net a big sprint despite him being a shade disapointing, to my eyes at least, this season. He has looked a short runner this year, not finding more to fend off opponents in the way he did time and again last year. It may be that The Nunthorpe represents his best chance of success and they won’t send Lethal Force there for that reason. When I saw quotes of 5/1 Lethal Force for the Nunthorpe right after yesterday’s race my gut instinct was to pull on the big betting boots and head into Vegas, because it seems hard to nominate one that could lower his colours on yesterday’s evidence. Clive Cox has mentioned lots of nice invitations coming in for other races though and I will hold fire until it becomes clear whether they are chasing tradition or prize money with this likeable horse.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Reports that connections have been spoken to in regards to Lethal Force running in the 1200 mt Manikato Stks at Moonee Valley and the Patinack Farms classic at Flemington. Both races are in the spring here, reports say the connections are ‘keen’ on the idea.

Well, I said I didn’t think the Maurice De Gheest was where he should go and he was duly picked off by Moonlight Cloud with some ease today.

I think that when you find the key to a horse you stay with it and pure sprinting is where this guy seems to belong. There are surely group 1 sprints to be won with him but it is their prerogative if they want to travel the world farting around with him instead.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
