Are last seasons juveniles among the best we have seen in recent years?
So far we have seen Rev De Sivola, Mr Thriller, Starluck (same age opposition) and now Trenchant win in this country.
From last seasons Triumph…
Zaynar
Not seen since winning
Walkon
won at Aintree comfortably
Mourad
2nd in Ireland and 4th in France
Starluck
Beaten at Aintree, destroyed a field of 4yo at Cheltenham.
Trenchant
Beaten at Chepstow and beat older horses at Kempton
Reve De Sivola
Beat the Novices at Chepstow on first run sinceA few years ago people claimed the 2006 Triumph that Detroit City won was the best year.
Detroit City
Won his next five races before a cruel death at Ascot.
Fair Along
Still going strong and won at Wetherby on Saturday.
Blazing Bailey
A good servant to Alan King winning at Cheltenham and placed in World Hurdles.
Pace Shot
Got injured and not reallly been able to show same level of form.
Afsoun
Placed in a Champion Hurdle.
Turko
Showed better form over fences.Which do you think was the best batch of Juveniles and is there another year in recent history you think is best?
November 3, 2009 at 03:41 #256836Jumbo Rio – 2nd twice in France and returns there on 15th November for the Renaud De Vivier (4yo Hurdle).
November 3, 2009 at 11:32 #256874I was only focusing on the top 6.
Never mentioned Ebadiyan who was going well before running out and would surely have finished in the first six.
November 3, 2009 at 11:52 #256876Fair enough but if Mourad gets a mention then Jumbo Rio deserved one (Mourad being 5 lengths behind Jumbo in the Alain Du Breil) and also having won the big Juvenile contest at Punchestown
November 4, 2009 at 11:00 #257042It does but then again I didnt mention Silk Affair or Ski Sunday who fought out the battle in the Fred Winter.
Its my thread and I only wanted to focus on the first six in each race!!

November 4, 2009 at 12:14 #257054Good point about the two horses who contested a handicap hurdle and by nature weren’t good enough to run in the Triumph.
If you’re going to create a thread on a forum and don’t want discussion then why create the thread?
November 4, 2009 at 16:20 #257079I was being sarcastic! Sorry the sarcasm didnt come across in the mail!
Im sure they could both have run in the Triumph but as we saw last year with Crack Away Jack and Ashkazar there are some horses which benefit from time and a favourable handicap mark!
