How the hell has this girl won the Cartiers for top two year old filly??
I am gobsmacked !!
November 10, 2016 at 23:50 #1271804I am still gobsmacked!!!
November 11, 2016 at 00:53 #1271814Who else was nominated Raymo do you have all the results? .I completely missed them this year.
I wasn’t impressed by the Lady Aurelia who turned out at Newmarket for the Cheveley Park won by Brave Anna.
I think everyone must have based it on her electrifying win at Royal Ascot.

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...November 11, 2016 at 01:12 #1271816Lol I can see this is really getting under your skin Raymo. Her win in the Queen Mary over 5f
at Ascot was awesome and she was pretty good in the Prix Morny, although there were signs of
running out of steam. I think that was more obvious in the Cheveley Park, 6F clearly stretched
her and she was a well beaten 3rd, perhaps it could be argued the ground wasn’t ideal. As an
out and out sprinter I’m not sure who you would put against her. I’m not sure there are too many
contenders in the 2 year old fillies ranks, perhaps a case could be made for Rhododendron. She
won a decent Group 2 at the Curragh (just) and although she disappointed in the Moyglare she ran
her best race and was impressive in the Group 1 Dubai Fillies Mile at Newmarket.Outside those 2, I’m not sure

How?
By putting up (by some way) the best performance by a two year old filly seen in 2016 in the Queen Mary.
7 lengths winner in a remarkable time for conditions. Form that worked out well too.Yet another brilliant performance by an overly mature Wesley Ward two year old.
How does he do it?
Clenbuterol?
(Banned here but perfectly legal in USA)
.
Such a shame these horses don’t last/train on, I wonder why?
It’s a lot easier for an American trainer to legally get this type of performance out of a two year old. It’s not a level playing field. So, Raymo’s question is a valid one.
Does Lady Aurelia/Wesley Ward deserve this award?
Value Is EverythingNovember 11, 2016 at 16:54 #1271947She has not testet Positive for a Prohibited substance and the Prize is given because of some sort of superiority on the race course and she was absolutely Brilliant at 5f.

Trouble is Raymo, which two year old filly put up more than one top class run?

Hit the nail on the head Ginger. Perhaps Rhododendron with the 2 races I mentioned above might be considered,
but her exceptional race, the Dubai Fillies Mile, wouldn’t match up to Lady Aurelia’s Queen Mary. I had hoped
earlier in the season that we would have seen a new Frankel emerge. Fair Eva after her Juddmonte win looked
like it could be her, but didn’t quite get there. I still think she is very good and I’m looking forward to
seeing how she does next year. Queen Kindly and Brave Anna played their part with some fine performances, but
I’d have to agree that of all these, Lady Aurelia’s performance is the one that sticks in the memory most.November 11, 2016 at 19:00 #1271977She has not testet Positive for a Prohibited substance and the Prize is given because of some sort of superiority on the race course and she was absolutely Brilliant at 5f.
Lady Aurelia was an “absolutely brilliant at 5f” at Royal Ascot, KS. Similar to Acapulco the year before and others before her. They’ve all had muscle coming out of muscle.
British trainers are not allowed to use Clenuterol while a horse is in training, because it has steroid-like attriutes, increasing the speed horses mature.
So what, if she hasn’t tested positive? She only needs to have Clenuterol perfectly legally (to USA rules) while still in USA. USA trainers can use Clenuterol as long as it is not in their system on race day. Therefore, USA rules advise trainers to stop using Clenuterol at least 21 days prior to race day. All her trainer needs to do is stop using it 21 days before his horses arrive in Britain.
Wesley Ward has fallen foul of even USA Clenbuterol rules several times – being banned for (sadly) a short time. He’s on record as saying he uses the product on all his US runners.
Has Lady Aurelia ever been given Clenuterol? We’ll never know. By some coincidence her trainer comes up with unusually mature two year olds every year.
Link doesn’t work. Just put David Ashforth Wesley Ward Clenuterol in to Google.

Thanks Raymo…I would definitely have voted for most of the above with the exception of
Horse of the Year who I think should have been FOUND
Also think the 2yo ROLY POLY has run some good races this year and has been highly tried especially against the colts. Will definitely be following her progress in 2017 and really fancy her chances in the 1000 Guineas. Jac

She’d have been evens at worst for the award
People are obsessed with wide margin winners and fair enough it was an eye popping run at Royal Ascot. The run in France in the Morny showed stamina limitations and Wesley was mad to run her where he did next and not in the sprint on Arc day.Charles Darwin to conquer the World

I’m not in disagreement with you, GingerT.
Just stating that the rules need to change and preracetesting to become common, worldwide, or exclude participants, who ever set foot in countries, who will not change their rules. If not Clenbuterol trainees could claim more fame.

Suspect all trainers who can legally use Clenbuterol do use Clenuterol, makes no sense not to.Ban all Americans (not just Donald Trump).
Value Is EverythingNovember 12, 2016 at 22:26 #1272365The filly carried far to much muscle for a two year old filly. It isn’t right to be giving animals these drugs and it will have a long term detriment to breeding.
Very disappointed she took the award, but she won’t stay and won’t train on. - AuthorPosts
